With red-letter recordings and thunderous live shows, Gregory Shiff has worked his way into the world's electronic consciousness. New York City's master of all things tech and house... (XLR8R), he has solidly earned his spot among the new elite of producers, releasing a wide range of acclaimed music from deep techno on labels such as Persona, LoFi Stereo, and Ironbox; to tech house tracks on the Bedrock and Matter/form labels. Not a DJ, his live show has rocked crowds all across the globe, from Europe to Australia and the United States, infusing dance floors with ...uplifting but resolutely underground techno (DJ Mag).
Shiffs love affair with sound has resulted in a life of musical exploration, beginning with punk bands in his native Connecticut, and cultivated in small town Indiana where his days were spent immersed in the study of classical guitar and atonal orchestral music, and by night he began to assemble a studio and experiment with artificial sounds. His attraction for electronic landscapes and pulsing rhythms led him to Boston in 1998, where he studied synthesis at the Berklee College of Music and collaborated with Stewart Walker on several early Persona Recordings releases.
Gregory moved to New York City in 2001. Once there, he continued releasing compelling techno music, began touring internationally, and found constant inspiration in side projects, people, and the chaos of day-to-day life in the blissful turmoil of that unique environment.
