About Me

Professional Website: www.claytonramsey.com
Personal Website (in development): www.brokenleash.com

It isn't going to take long to figure out I'm pretty much an enormous geek - so I might as well fess up right away. Show some geek pride, right?

I'm very open minded and quite forgiving of even the most difficult personalities, which I think makes me pretty easy to get along with. I take offense at virtually nothing and admire truthfulness in others.

In casual environments I can be extremely silly (this may or may not be a good thing, depending on your personality). If you like my style of humor (goofy, sarcastic, sometimes a bit vulgar) I'm hillarious - if you don't I'm either a dork or a pervert... maybe both. I am also pretty quirky - which I am certain can be entertaining from afar.

I think I can best be described as 30% mad scientist, 30% artist, 30% ten year old, 15% math genius.

My Interests

Anything Geeky: Computer games (esp. adventure and survival horror - BIG fan of the Silent Hill series), Fantasy and SciFi (see 'Movies' and 'Television' below), anime, etc.
All things science and tech: Internet, electronics engineering, robotics, programming, encryption, etc. etc.
Toys: I collect vintage Transformers, designer toys, action figures, and anything else that strikes me as unique and fun. Sooner or later I plan on trying some custom toy making projects.
Some artsy stuff: Animation, painting (acrylics), urban vinyl, and anything else 'creative' that I can find the time for.
A touch of outdoors: Geocaching and hiking, mostly
Animals! My beautiful wolves, dogs, cats, and pretty much anything with a fuzzy face (plus a few more)

I'd like to meet:

Professionally, I wouldn't mind meeting local small business owners who may need someone with a very wide range of technology skills to help them keep their business running, or start up a new service.

Personally, I'd like to find people similar to myself (they MUST exist somewhere, right?) I can blend with the 'norms' quite well - but try to tell a quantum physics joke, or show them an episode of FLCL and they get this odd look on their face. (Truly, it's priceless!)

Music:

My musical tastes are diverse and very strange. There is no genre that doesn't have at least a song or two that I like. The slow and/or whiney genres (I'm looking at you, country!) are lowest on my list, however. My music collection has everything from Frank Sinatra to Britney Spears. That isn't to say I like everything - I am actually a little picky. I just like a large range of styles! Favorite genres are probably pop rock, alternative, and rap. It's hard to pick specific singers/bands since I usually like a handful of everything, but a few consistent favs are Pink, Garbage, Blackeyed Peas, Eminem, Bloodhound Gang, Gorillaz, etc.

Movies:

I watch a lot of movies - but am impressed by only a few. Most of them aren't particuarly original or clever. I do have a few genres that I like to stick to, and a few I avoid at all costs. Mostly I watch science fiction and/or action movies, as well as comedy and anything creative (Read: "weird"). I can't stand romantic movies - including romantic comedies. Anything with too much drama puts me to sleep.

Television:

I don't watch a whole lot of TV. There are a few SciFi shows I follow weekly, but I am not incredibly impressed with any currently airing series (the Stargates are the only current shows I follow with any dedication). Past favs include Buffy, Firefly (thanks, Joss!), Wonderfalls, and Farscape. I love cartoons of all kinds, and commonly leave the TV on Cartoon Network while I work. My favorite stuff is the Adult Swim lineup... ATHF, Sealab, 12 Oz. Mouse, Boondocks, Robot Chicken, Venture Bros, etc. Also, I've been watching tons of Pants Off Dance Off lately - I just can't help myself!

Books:

I go through phases where I read very little, or all the time. When I read, it is almost always non-fiction. Lately I've been reading constantly - usually alternating between 2 or 3 books at a time. Some of my favorite recent reads are On Intelligence by Jeff Hawkins, The Meme Machine by Susan Blackmore, and The Code Book by Simon Singh.

Heroes:

Niels Bohr for outsmarting Einstein
Alan Turing for the Turing machine, and saving us from the Nazis
Buffy for saving the world.... a lot.
