Mela MeloWelcome to the art of uneasy listening! This expressive song is not supposed to entertain you. The person you can hear is Charade. And yes, she really is crying! She was also crying when she improvised on the melodica. This is perhaps the reason for the melody's informal timing. This whole song was written and recorded by Charade in less than 2 hours. However, for a year it has been edited, remixed, etc... ultimately the original has a personal feel that loses its poignancy when altered. We did feel it worked with a rigid percussive beat for contrast. By the way, ‘Mela Melo’ is short for ‘Melancholy Melodica’.Percubanjeff We had a lot of fun creating this. The first takes were used for most of the layers to make it sound like a live jam session. This song is written by Charade and D-Love. D-Love proudly confused us with the accents for the banjo. The vocal effects are controlled by Mr. Chmiel. The percussion section made our ears bleed during recording, well not really. But we are pretty sick of woodblock now! Oh, and you get ten points if you can work out what the title stands for...
If you have some headphones handy, you may appreciate the panning in these songs. All layers of music are written and recorded by Charade using a sony mini-disc recorder. We welcome your comments.

What the hell kinda genre is this?
There are so many genres under the big Rock umbrella and new breeds are constantly being invented. When selecting a genre for my own music my mind goes blank. Every song is different. Each has completely different instruments, timbres, influences and therefore different styles. It seems the only thing that is consistent is my vocals. So what genre do I sing in? A female soprano is usually associated with Pop. That sad little word... Pop. It used to be a word to describe the binding of our culture, now it seems to divide us. The greatest drawback of genres is the connotations associated with them. Few of us relish at the thought of categorising our own style, but here we go... I would like to think that I try to experiment with music. So lets put a big 'Experimental' label on my work. I am a female soprano that often sings a catchy melody... 'Pop!' I am greatly influenced by all styles of Rock. Therefore, we can release a protective umbrella of 'Rock' over me. A change is on the way. Genres are merging more and more. Rockers are listening to Hip Hop and people are craving a more meaningful sound. We are in a transitional stage. The music we listen to no longer defines our style as it doesn't have a specified style in the first place. Lets not be left in purgatory as genres continue to breed. -CharadeP.s For those of you that have creativity running through your veins, please read our blog entitled: "How we eat our young" By Mike Patton.
