The Night Sky

About Me

If Edith Piaf had been luckier in love, she would have been in a band like this. Music that twinkles and sometimes burns. Minor keys with major rhythm.
The Night Sky shake up a cocktail of gypsy jazz cabaret pop. By "cabaret" we're not talking torch songs in cocktail bars, or playing Burt Bacharach and Gershwin tunes (not that there's anything wrong with that!). The Night Sky traverses musical genres of all persuasions, from dancehall, to tango, to ska and gypsy jazz and gives them all a unique twist in the tail. Dancing guaranteed!
The Night Sky is Steph Francis (vocals), Dave Evans (accordion), Leigh Barker (double bass), Adam Thwaites (guitar) and Hugh Harvey (drums).
The Night Sky play original songs, with energy, humour and superb musicianship, as well as choice renditions of some downright special songwriters such as the prolific and remarkably talented lyricists Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen.
If you live in Melbourne and would like to know when we're playing next, send us a message and we'll put you on our email list.
Our CD, Venetia Phair is available for sale online at CD Baby:
