About Me
I have a plethora of interests, which range from profound subject matter to more trivial persuits. I'm constantly striving towards a higher understanding of culture and history through hours of research on topics like theology, philosophy, psychology, science, and so forth. To say that I'm not religious would be an utter lie. I do realize the deception and hypocrisy in organized religion, however, so I avoid it like the plague. I have nihilist tendencies, with a dash of National Socialism, etc. I think outside of the box on these issues, yet avoid the typical pre-pubescent "phase" type of rebellion, because I'm not a kid.In regards to music, I am obsessed with Heavy Metal. I absolutely love the over-the-top self empowering message of this music and its affinity with all things macabre/dark/somber/weird/strange. Everything from the early bands like UFO and Saxon to the groundbreaking gore/death of the 80s/90s like Napalm Death. The Thrash of the 80s like Forbidden and Dark Angel. The devastating gory Death Metal like Autopsy, Avulsed, etc. The nihilistic/serious Black Metal like old Samael or Masters Hammer. You name it. I even have a website up that reviews underground shows of several different Metal bands (http://www.erodedthoughts.com)I am not very open minded towards other styles of dark music, because I find them to be inferior or core-laden. I don't need core music, because Heavy Metal, Thrash Metal, Death and Black Metal, and even Gore/Grind satisfy my tastes. Also, I am just not trendy or concerned with the latest Goth/Darkwave bands. I have heard the Nick Caves, the Type Os, the Lacuna Coils, the Therions, the Anthony and the Johanssons, the Dead Can Dances, etc. I've heard enough to know it is not for me. It is just not real enough.Oddly enough, I am willing to enjoy the rare country/western song (Let's face it, it doesn't truly get any more REAL than a Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, or David Allen Coe song about depression, cocaine addiction, or imprisonment. I can relate to pessimism or just downright depressing stories that are soulful.)I am very much into cinema. From an early age with films like Batman and The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, on up from when I was old enough for R films like Total Recall. Man, I'm telling you, I have seen at least a billion movies, both Hollyweird and the indies. I could babble for countless days about stuff you've probably never heard of or care to, heh. I am currently working on my Horror collection. Recent additions are May, The Last Horror Movie, and Devil's Rejects. I have countless classics, of course, and still need tons I've seen over the years. Some faves are The Omen, Phantasm, The Shining, Susperia, Cannibal Holocaust, Zombie 2, Return of the Living Dead, TCM, TCM II, Evil Dead (!!!), etc. etc. etc.
