About Me

I've been singing forever, well it seems like that! There's a song in everything we do and say and see and hear. I often think in verse and the tunes seem to happen along with the words organically. At last I have got my own special room organised for my music and I'm able to get on and record and delete, as you do!It's amazing how hearing someone else playing or singing one of your songs gives it a whole new life. Fantastic. For several years I have been singing in a duo as Gaye and Trish ( G & T). Together we mostly sing Scottish songs for corporate functions and songs of the Sea and the Fishing which we do at Shanty and Maritime Festivals in the UK and Europe. For more info go to www.myspace.com/gayeandtrish.For the past few years I have to say I have been thoroughly enjoying singing Jazz as well and also writing for a different genre. This has been great fun especially the blues. It is so fantastic to be accompanied by the talented musicians I am meeting on my Jazz journey. Loving it. Special thanks to Marisha Addison, Cindy Douglas and also to Bill Kemp for his enthusiasm and encouragement.Am currently working on arrangements for my songs with a view to recording them. Some will be folky, some swingy and jazzy and some more bluesy. It's fun anyway.Just recently the Scottish folk music scene has lost one of it's all time greats. Jim Reid, the voice of Angus, has been an influence on so many for so long. Along with many others, I will miss him.

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Me!
Influences: Joan Baez and Judy Collins for the quality of their voices; Ralph McTell, Eric Bogle, Leonard Cohen and Jim Reid of Angus and more recently for me, Tom Waites for their incredible creative output; Sandy Denny, Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee, Nat King Cole. I like to listen to people who sound like who they are whatever they are singing. I love the songs from the old Fred Astaire movies. Gershwin, Cole Porter and Hoagy Carmichael tunes are timeless.

My Blog

Strange

It's strange but there seems to be awakened interest in Reflections, my first album, from 1987. All the tracks are available on i-tunes if you want to try it.

Music Tracks

I keep changing the music tracks according to what I'm involved in. Currently leaving Child of Chernobyl, despite time of year as a few people have asked about it lately. Find it as an mp3 on i-tunes....
