Decoration Day

Decoration Day is an old South tradition. Essentially, it’s on Memorial Day when families gather together, packing picnic lunches and yard tools, and head to the local cemetary to clean and reflower the graves of departed loved ones. The band, Decoration Day, is the culmination of a plot by harp master Mike"Naz"Nazarenko and blues stringer Jeff Norwood to bring the best elements of their respective bands, Jeff’s Chiggers and Naz’s Falsehoods, together into one cohesive, all-encompassing unit. Naz and Jeff are joined by drummer Andrew Hoose and bassist Bill Stevens, both formerly of the now defunct Petrillo Relents, in their new venture. Decoration Day’s sound is described as "DEEP, DARK and BLUE...blue enough for the bluesiers, cool enough for jammers, and fresh/different enough for the undead." Decoration Day combines elements of delta boogie, hill country stomp, classic blues, americana and jam rock into a sound that’s original and familiar, different and still danceable.
