77 JEFFERSON is a band that borrows elements of reggae, dub, hip-hop, rock, and soul and then twists those styles with old-school and progressive styles. Joel Castillo, Ryan Castillo, Miles Brown, and Mike Dunn began playing together in the summer of 2006 in a house on 77th and Jefferson in Kansas City, Missouri. They recorded a 5-song EP called "Songs For Selene" and played their first show in September of 2006 at Californos in Westport. They have been on tour every weeked for the last 7 months in over 100 cities and 15 states promoting their debut full-length album "Sledgehammer." 77 has earned a reputation for giving high-energy performances all across the midwest and beyond and endorses an organic "do it yourself" mindset by writing, recording, and producing their own music. In two years, 77 has played over a 175 shows including festivals such as Wakarusa 2008, Tulsa Reggae Festival 2008, Peoria Reggae by the Riverfront 2008, KC Reggae by the River 2007, The Crossroads Music Festival 2007, Roots Family Reunion Festival 2007, Gaea Retreat 2008, Jah Roots 420 Reggae Festivals 2007 and 2008, Jah Roots Summerfest 2008, and many more. 77 recently released their debut, 15-song album, "Sledgehammer," on itunes, cdbaby, and participating stores.
