About Me

PAST: I grew up in Rutherfordton, NC. After high school I moved to Boone for college. I met my husband in the fall of 1996. We started dating summer 1997 and have been together ever since. In 1998, I graduated from ASU. My first son was born at home in 2000. Shortly before his first birthday we moved back to Rutherford County for a while (UGH, what were we thinking?). We moved again to Boone in 2003. (I truly love the mountains and I hope we never leave.) My second boy, also a home birth, was born February 2005. PRESENT: I'm lucky because I got to be everything I wanted to be when I grew up! I'm a teacher, housekeeper, nurse, astronomer, herbalist, mechanic, artist, doctor, dancer, toymaker, seamstress, plumber, writer. . .oh, and a stay-at-home mama. I started bellydancing when I was pregnant with Isaac and I immediately fell in love with this dance!! When my teacher moved to California I was forced to take a break. In mid-2006 Joharah started classes in Boone and I've been dancing since. FUTURE: Who knows? We are thinking about relocating because of the serious lack of job opportunities in Boone. My husband is an amazing chef (he also teaches yoga). But he needs a restaurant where he can be more creative. So we're talking about Raleigh, perhaps, or maybe somewhere up north. . . I'm eventually going to go back to school. I'm thinking Holistic Medicine, possibly Holistic Dentistry. We may have to leave NC for that. But the time is not right, not yet. Now, I'm a mama. "In the right light, at the right time, everything is extraordinary."
