I am a 18 year old young man here in good old New York.
I am the one and only Darren Glenn and I consider myself a gentleman in every sense of the word, and so I have come to be considered. I am known for my piety, my loyalty and sometimes my narcissistic behevior patterns, (which you must admit have lessened considerably). I also have an instictive knack for helping others. While that knack, occasionally, can come off as intrusive and sometimes even harsh, if anyone needs me, I'll be there.
I am a native of the very humble island of Trinidad in the commonwealth island-nation of "Trinidad and Tobago." I was born on Mount Hope to a devout Pentecostal couple, (a financial saavy, ex-Baptist mother and a father of both Indian and black heritage). I was reared in my beloved home village of San Juan, where my parents had grown up themselves, met and married. I was a very well-known child mostly because my parents were emblematic of the ideals of traditional black Christendom... I was expected to grow up to be the the best thing Trinidad had to offer. (FLASH FORWARD)... Ever since 9th grade, I've undergone an evolution that has allowed me to express myself more strongly and become more of a leader. This has inspired a confidence in me which is always in a constant balancing act with my inherent meekness. As of now, I try to remain both confident and meek, which ain't always easy.
Now, number one, God is my all in all in life. While my measure of piety most clearly fluxuates from week to week, He is always on my mind for all the unfathomable things He has done in my life and, more simply, for who He is. I know I may not have the most devoted prayer life (understatement), but I am working on it, and on being more earnest about this irreplaceable relationship we have.
Secondly writing has always been a great passion in my life. I've been writing of my own since the first grade. I don't really know where I hope this passion will take me, but I know that as long as I can express myself in the written word, I'll be contented. Another key passion in my life is acting--something which I've more so grown into as opposed to writing. Within the past three years, I've completely fallen in love with the challenges of creating and embodying characters, and recently I've taken interest in competitive improv. As of now I do identify myself as an actor and I have developed my more histrionic side.
Among the myriad of friends of mine (hmmm) there is one of my closest friends, Ericka, who is simply the best. Be it clever conversation, grave help or useful advice, she's one of my friends I can always count on for most anything. Alot of times I underestimate how well we really know each other, and it surprises me always not only how well she knows me, but also at the fact that she just accepts that person she knows.
My other friends have truly made my high school days truly a joy. Most notably are my friends Sarah and Jen. Ever since Sarah and I met in 9th grade, we have had an irreplaceable bond. Then, when Jen and I discovered our "twin-hood," she has held an important place in my life. As far as schoolmates go, they are spectacular. From the Nextmen and doorknobs to Melos, Senior Cut Day and prom night, these two are two of the best friends I could ask to share my high school experience with.
As far as my drama friends go, I must mention my ultimate co-star Erin, my practical brother from another mother (and father) Russo and my walk-home cheesecake buddy Keisha. These are three of my most memorable and beloved drama friends that I feel most like family with.
