Here is a slideshow of pictures from my 45th birthday party. Thanks to Cathy who worked so hard to pull off the multiple surprises, and all who were able to come to the Grand Finale at Mr. Charlie's and make it that much more special.

Others: Thank You for Smoking, RENT, Finding Neverland, Chicago, LOTR, Harry Potter, Lemony Snicket, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Ring, American Beauty, Gone With The Wind, Wizard of Oz, Monty Python & the Holy Grail.

Television:

Who has time to watch TV? My DVR is happy watching Scrubs, Lost, Grey's Anatomy, ER, Simpsons, Monk, and The Dead Zone. Someday I'll have to join it for a TV viewing party.

Books:

Lately, I've been listening to audiobooks (that counts, right?) on my long commute to & from work. So far I've found the most entertaining audiobooks are the ones my kids read -- Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events (read by Tim Curry, who should have played Olaf in the film), the Chronic (what?) cles of Narnia (each one read by an all-star brit, e.g. Michael York, Kenneth Branagh, Lynn Redgrave), Harry Potter (Jim Dale = genius). I've listened my way through all of the Harry Potter books! My kids don't like that I "get away with" listening instead of reading, but that's life -- you can't read & drive at the same time!
Al Franken is now one of my favorite audio authors. I first listened to him narrate his "Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them, a Fair and Balanced Look at the Right." This is one you have to get in audiobook form -- it's just way more entertaining listening to Al read it, and there are extra little bits and clips from the Liars' shows and Al's impersonations of Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld et. al. that make it worth a listen. Then I went on to "The Truth (with jokes)," in which he sounds really pissed off, but still funny. It's funny and disgusting at the same time. What a combo!
And the best part about these audiobooks... they are FREE to check out from any library in SD county. So, you don't need to drop the $60-$100 list price, just search .. for the one(s) you want and either go get them or reserve them to be sent to the branch of your choice. It's a good deal, people. Free.

Heroes:

Lance Armstrong -- yeah, ummm... until he started dating Ashley Olsen. Otherwise, the guy is not too bad. Cancer survivor and charity founder, 7 time TDF champ, divorced dad. Also, Al Franken ... running for Senate in MN. Can the White House be too far off?
