THE UNDISPUTED KINGS OF PUNK ROCK FROM GERMANY...there were many great punk bands from germany but none came as close to being as good.they ither lacked the content,musicianship,or the heart to ever hold a candle to these guys .6 full albums worth of material 2 singles and an lp collection of remixed and unreleased material ..spanning over a decade..first to last front to back all of it is great ... Big Balls and the Great White Idiot was one of the first and best known German punk rock bands. They were founded in Hamburg in 1975 by Wolfgang "Wolle" Lorenz (guitar), "The Baron" Adolf Kaiser (vocals), and the Grund brothers Peter (drums), Alfred (bass, vocals) and Atli (guitar).... Adolf provoked the audience by wearing a Nazi uniform and a black moustache as an expression of anarchy and to taunt the crowd , Performances on stage were highly aggressive; the band was known to shout at the audience to go home you fucks and start riots all in the name of who knows what .. Punk News magazine called the sound "mean and ugly." The first album was released in 1977 by Teldec, named Big Balls. Among the 17 songs were a cover version of the Sex Pistols' "Anarchy in the U.K.", in this case "Anarchy in Germany," and another of Velvet Underground. In 1978 the second album Foolish Guys followed with the same intensity but proved they could blossom into more than just punk rock.. The next two albums, Artikel 1 and Creepy Shades, were released by their own label Balls Records,these two releases hold their own in strength and ferociousness..while still very punk rock they start to lean more towards seriousness and a flair for experimentation ...theyve always been sarcastic and in yer face but here they prove the first album wasnt just a fluke or a joke, as if theve truly found their sound and nitch -this is the balls-,but we should have already known that ..as far as punk rock? pick up any of the first 4 albums and every one is a barn burner ...the laterdays for the balls ushered in a more rock and roll feel ..much softer than all albums previous ... great in its own right..as for the punk fans it may be a spit in their face but for avid balls fans something unique, you can still find that feeling with these 2 albums as all the rest...now the balls seem to be writing scores for movies,shows and plays...rightfully so in this day and age there has been a real lul as far as good music is concerned ..everything has been done before and these days its all about re-creation,videos,style,and who you know..its no longer about the music and for those that say it is are so jaded from so many years of vh1,mtv,and listening to so many of the originals that were so great that theyve conditioned themselves into mediocrity..that is the sole reason that punk only lasted so long and why nothing in the last 15 years has made any kind of significant impact...why..because- real punk is most definetly dead ...it will never be recaptured unless maybe there is a total apocalypse and annhialation of the medias,suburbias,walmarts,fastffoods,and all the consumtion and petty materialistic values the world super powers endear.and hold dear..then maybe we may have another band like big balls and the great white idiot ...then again who needs another,they are the best ...
