I love tambourines...With rare truth telling lyrics, beautiful acoustic melodies and distorted guitars, Kim paints a definite picture of her own unflinching truth. She forms an intimate conversation with the listener she lets them in on her secrets. Kim grew up in Miami, Florida and early on began writing songs. She discovered music through her mother’s and father’s record collections which included artists such as Led Zepopelin, Pink Floyd and The Doors. And prettier sounding acostic based records by artists such as America and Bob Dylan. Through some of these early influences and some experimenting she began to find her voice. Kim began playing guitar at the age of thirteen when she found her father’s old beat up Harmony brand guitar covered with dust in the garage. After the experience of a bad piano teacher in third grade and less than friendly students in the elementary school choir, Kim took on the task of learning to play guitar alone, with only the aid of a Mel Bay guitar book. She rediscovered music in the safety of her room. That was when she found her love and talent for writing songs. After playing in half a dozen rock bands with sounds ranging from alt rock to emo to even a Ramones cover band called The Ramonas, Kim went on to record her first EP in 2004 which consisted of just her acoustic guitar playing and vocals. “It had very sparse accompaniment. It was just me, my guitar, a harmonica and a tambourine.†In 2005, she recorded her second EP which has distorted guitars, searing vocals lines and beautiful acoustic melodies. “This was more of my sound realized. I had a full band and many layers of guitars. Electric as well as acoustic.†With two EP's under her belt, Kim is now in the process of finishing up her third recording project, an LP tentatively titled, "Love Is Free" due out the first week of March 2008.
