About Me

I'm a 50 year old woman with the down-to-earth seriousness and stability of an 80-year-old, the fun-loving attitude of a 30-year-old, and the unfortunate pouting ability of a 4-year old! Oh, well! I can't be all perfect.
I can safely say that my career history can best be described as multitudinous (fancy word, huh?). From carhopping, bookkeeping (early term for finance manager), secretary (they call them office administrators now), police dispatcher, transcriptionist, EMT, even wife and mom. I've resigned all those positions (even being a wife) except for being a mom. I'm still fond of the fringe benefits that brings!
Being a late bloomer on practically everything -- getting married WAY after 30, having kids WAY after 30, going back to college with the idea of a new career at my age is not totally out of the norm.
The summer of 2005 brought on the idea that I wanted to become a nurse, so I resigned a full-time career, donned my preppiest look and dove into the re-entry to college. I surprised even myself in the first semester as I came out with a 4.0 gpa (woohoo!!!) and was enlisted on the National Dean's List. By mid-spring semester I became inducted to the Phi Theta Kappa (national honor society) and was elected as the local chapter's secretary. After completing all prerequisite classes, tests, etc., I received my letter of acceptance into the two-year nursing program at NMSU-C and began this Fall-2006. WISH ME LUCK!!! I was recently elected to the Freshmen President of Student Nurses' Association. What an honor!
I have two wonderful children (son who is 14 and daughter 12) who are my best support team! They have encouraged me in more ways than I can ever express. THANKS, YOU TWO!!!

My Interests

***I enjoy studying and learning. Seriously!
***Walking is my favorite daily habit as I like the soul of my feet to hit the surface of the earth while the soul of my existence begins its new beginning.
***I also enjoy handcrafting of almost any kind... crocheting, machine knitting, sewing, and... on and on.
***I enjoy being with my kids as well as being alone. I enjoy reading a good book or chatting with friends.
***I like watching sunrises as they are a great beginning to a wonderful new day. But I love the sunsets as they are the closing of one great day with the promise of a great tomorrow to follow!

I'd like to meet:

I'd like to meet a man...
...who has the firmness to hold me tight and the gentility to caress me tenderly
...who can laugh as well as cry
...who can hear as well as speak
...who knows that truth means honesty without reserving anything
...who would rather plant rose bushes for all to see than to present a bouquet for a short-time private viewing
...who has a pauper's attitude with a heart of gold
...who can see me not for what I have, but for what I am
...who has enough compassion to try to help me when I am hurt, enough strength to assure me when I'm scared and enough wisdom to know when to let me just be.

The one who really fits here, doesn't believe he is such a person. He is! He would be a lot like the subject in Josh Turner's song:

And this is the acronym my daughter came up with:
H*U*N*K*Y*
That stands for: Honest, Understanding, Nice, Kind of crazy in a fun way, and Young at heart

Music:

Yes! Oh, you want to know what kind of music? With rhythm, beat, words, no words, symphony orchestras, rock bands, country and western singers, opera (especially tenors), jazz ... Only exclusion -- acid rock! Don't worry if you don't know what it was!

Music? YES!!! I love music!!!

Movies:

I guess Love Story is a thing of the past? Dating my movie expertise back that far would make you wonder why I don't have a tombstone next to me with someone delivering flowers every other week.

I think you can surmise that I'm not much of a movie person. I will say that there are several over the past few years that I really enjoyed. I'm terrible about remembering the names though and it would take me too long to describe them. They can be described as love-dovey or down-home emotion tugging or ones that leave you with a tear in the eye or a warm feeling in the heart. Does that say enough?

Television:

Is that the square thing on the other side of the kids?

Books:

(In case any professors are looking) Textbooks! Hard-studying textbooks!!!

When they stop looking, I'll admit that I really enjoy reading anything that Erma Bombeck wrote -- twice, three, four times! She had such a view on life. Other than that, I enjoy reading books of local or close interests such as about the Carlsbad Caverns or Pat Garrett or ...

Heroes:

My hero? My mom! She was the most faithful, intellectual, talented, stable, patient, tolerant, compassionate... person I have ever known! I would like to have been even a small part of what she was. It was no wonder that my dad was so in love with her! Love and miss you, Mom!!! Love and miss you, Dad!!!
