Crazy Cree Girl - I'll sing your ears off . . .

About Me

My name's Vanessa. I'm 29 and a proud Mother of two very beautiful and intelligent children who teach me more about myself and my life everyday!!! I am lucky enough to have found the perfect man (yes, he's tall, dark and handsome, funny, smart AND he cooks and cleans and he used to have money before he met me!!!! HAHA!) He also speaks to me in Italian (I'm still waiting to hear the language of love, all I hear is the cursing!! HA HA!) I work at York University and I enjoy the excitement!I am part Cree and Mohawk and my family was originally from the Gibson Reserve (Wahta Mohawks) near Parry Sound, ON. I am dedicated to my healing journey and making my life a healthier one. I have been blessed to have many people who love and support me in my life right now and props hafta go out to all of you and you know who you are!! I'm a pretty ordinary, probably boring to some, person. I go to work, pick-up my kids, go home, help with homework and play referee while I cook dinner, play with them, put them to bed and then collapse in front of the PC or the TV for the evening. I wouldn't trade it for anything! I like to dance, sing, play on game rival.com (for those of you who are familiar, I AM the Marble Master!!!! lol!) and watch Will & Grace (the show should be re-named to Jack & Karen, they're funnier!!). I am a romantic at heart and scary movies scare me; don't like those horror flicks that mess with spiritual stuff; makes me afraid of my bathroom; lol! As you can see, I love to joke and laugh and I am the Queen of one-liners! I like to to go Traditional ceremonies and I am trying to get the guts to go to one again; last one kind of scared me; too powerful all at once . . . nevermind. I like to hear from friends from my past (duh . . . this is how I signed up to this site!!!) and make new ones . . .hate saying good-bye . . . doesn't feel natural. Anyway, time to start the evening routine; later skaters!!!!

My Interests

Nishnawbe protests! York University's job postings (waitin for my job to get posted!!) learning new Traditional songs, singin with the kwe's, learning about what makes my kids and my man tick and anything about healing.

I'd like to meet:

SEAN PAUL!!!!! Ya Baby!!! Sean Paul . . . come sing ta me baby!! Other than that, dunno.

Music:

Hmmmmm . . . are you ready??? Country, classical, reggae, "gino beats", r & b, hip hop, rock, alternative, a little bit of jazz at a time, Traditional Nish drumming and oh ya, my kids singing!!!!!

Movies:

I LOVE SAPPY ROMANCES!!!!!!! It drives Marco crazy!!!! I love Bollywood films, subtitles (pretty much any kind), comedies and anything with Adam Sandler!!! He is too funny! My new favourite right now is Little Blackbook, a romantic comedy with a twist!!! Classics include EverAfter, Some Kind of Wonderful, Dirty Dancing (u go Patrick Swayze!!), Braveheart (Mel Gibson rocks!!!), The Bodyguard, Smoke Signals (I'm not tellin any cop where I live!!) and I think my all-time favourite movie that I could watch again and again and again and again is "Now and Forever" with hottie Adam Beach!!!! I also really liked Troy; a little bit bloody, but lots of honour.

Television:

Well . . . I love the sitcom comedies again . . . Reba, Will & Grace (like I said, it should be Jack and Karen), Desperate Housewives, CSI: Las Vegas ROCKS!!!! I WATCH THAT OVER AND OVER!!! I also really like the Creative Native on APTN, Fear Factor (except when they eat that disgusting crap or swim in it or whatever, I guess I just like the stunts then) and I enjoy those cheesy made-for-tv movies.

Books:

hmm . . . don't really get to do a lot of reading; not enough quiet time! But I do like to be bad and catch up on Hollywood gossip in STAR magazine; they have the best crap out of all the crap! I actually like to read poetry and short stories too. I really enjoyed all of my English courses in college a couple of years ago and I still read some of the stories. I used to read anything and everything I could get my hands on . . . not so much since the kids arrivals!

Heroes:

ANNA MAE AQUASH . . . WARRIOR MOTHER . . . CASUALTY OF THE WAR AGAINST INDIGENOUS PEOPLE. My Ancestors . . . cuz they put me here. My kids . . . cuz they show me about unconditional love. My hubby . . . cuz he allows me to just be me and I am not afraid of doing just that. My Mother-in-Law . . . because through all of the shit she has taught me what sticking around and loving your family is all about. My sister N . . . because no matter how much we fight, we just keep coming back for more and makin it better and it's always been us against the world during that whole hellish time in our lives. To Delly . . . because she just keeps pluggin away and still makes me feel like she needs her big sister. Marie and Mandy . . . because they tirelessly give of themselves and show me how to be a strong kwe . . . and to all of my friends and family who struggle to make their lives and their kids lives better; kudos to y'all and keep workin!
