Hi, I’m Alan Titchmarsh, and thank you for visiting my profile. Most people will know me from TV programmes such as Ground Force and BBC 2’s Gardeners’ World.I was brought up in a place called Ilkley Moor in Yorkshire. I’ve always enjoyed growing things, and it was here at my parent’s house where I worked on my first garden. It was my pride and joy, even at the age of 10. I then left school at the age of 15 and went to work as an apprentice gardener in the local nursery. This was soon followed by full time training at a horticultural college and the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.After this I became a horticultural journalist as an editor or gardening books, and then deputy editor of ‘Amateur Gardening’ magazine before becoming a broadcaster and writer.I have recently started a new television project, called 'The Alan Titchmarsh Show,' which airs weekdays at 3pm on ITV.For gardening tips and advice, please take a look at my personal website: www.alantitchmarsh.com
