About Me

About me: I'm a total dork. :o) I grew up in MARYLAND and moved to DULUTH MN at the age of 12. My parents are both very musically gifted. They saturated me with great music (southern rock, blues, folk, jazz, a hint of the 80's... Eric Clapton, Stevie Wonder, Bonnie Raitt, Eurythmics, Pretenders, Otis Redding, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Al Green, the Allman Brothers, Koko Tayor, Ricky Lee Jones, Coltrane, Miles Davis, the Doors, the Beatles, Bad Co., Peter Gabriel...) When I was a kid my father would take me on long road trips to Baltimore or D.C and we would listen to Wolfman Jack on the radio. The words to every song stuck in my memory like glue. He and I would "air-jam" playing the piano on the dashboard and the seatbelt as a guitar. No matter what struggles life presented MUSIC always relieved the stress. He is always involved in a new band project and is always running the show at some road house blues jam. In the blues world he's highly respected. He's played with many of the legends. -- My mother worked off and on as a DJ so the record player was on 24 hours a day. New music, old music, jazz music, soul music.. it was always something. She never turned down a stage wether it was at church or singing amazing grace at a dinner table. She was always singing. I have tapes of her and I singing along to the Pretenders when I was about 4 years old. For my mom singing was the answer for everything. When you are sad- sing. When you are happy- sing. When you are broke, lonley, excited, relieved, worried, or just bored- sing.In the early 90's I was really turned on to the Seattle grunge thing- Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden... I got a guitar and tried to learn every Nirvana song.It was 1995 when I first heard Jeff Buckley's "Last Goodbye" - It changed my life. My writing style changed and I started to become more in touch with my individual voice. At 18 I became restless and decided to take a road trip. 2 months later I ran out of gas and money in LOS ANGELES. L.A has been my home ever since.Through the years I've written 100's of songs and played 100's of shows. Luckily I've managed to make some great friends and some loyal fans in L.A.I took the last couple years off but I'm slowly making my comeback. A series of adventures, mistakes, heartbreak, and falling in and out and around love have inspired some new songs and have rejuvenated my passion to perform and record. I threw together a funky little page to share some of the songs I'm working on. Most of the recordings are incomplete and need work but- I'm impatient. ------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------- If you dig my shit please pass it along to a friend :o) It will be interesting to see how far around the globe my music can reach thanks to Myspace!I'll be booking more shows this winter. I hope to see YOU at a show soon. Thank you for taking the time to get to know me. Don't be shy- shoot me an e-mail!........................................... "NIGHT SPENT" Live- at the show you missed....press play!!.................... ..
