Jan is finally at peace today July 25, 2007.

About Me

Today Jan is celebrating in Heaven. At 1:00, July 25th, we said good-bye to her for the last time. It was very peaceful. Paige, Mallory, LeaAnn and I were with her.SERVICE WILL BE AT NOON FRIDAY AT ROSEHILL CEMETARY.On July 6th 2006 Jan was admitted to St. Johns in Tulsa with a complaint of dizziness, headache, tiredness and double vision. Through a series of tests by Dr. Rapacki (a nerosurgen) a mass was discovered in her brainstem. The mass was later diagnosed as stage 4 brainstem glial blastoma. The dizziness, headaches, etc. was being caused by a buildup of spinal fluid in her brain. It was decided that a temporary shunt be installed to drain off the excess fluid. This was done on Sunday July 9th. A considerable amount of fluid was drained and Dr. Rapacki sent some of to be tested. Since the mass is in such a critical area of her brain, no surgeon in Tulsa was willing to do a biopsy. After the fluid was examined and tested, it was concluded that no cancer cells were present in the fluid which meant that the cancer was contained in the one mass, and it would be safe to put in the permanent shunt. This was done on Friday July 14th. She was moved out of the S.I.C.U. on July 15, and we took her home on Sunday July 16.
