The Sarkastiks

About Me

2002-2006 RIPGo to our website: www.sarkastiks.comOur final shows are posted. As many of you know we're moving away real soon. We're playing 2 parties and Locals Only over Memorial Day Weekend.
Our new CD is almost finished! There are 2 new songs from it posted on our web site (www.sarkastiks.com) For some reason they are not My Space compatible. If you come to our final show/party in Bloomington you'll probably receive a FREE copy of the CD.
Formed in the fall of '02 by Brad Odom and Evan Turner, The Sarkastiks began performing mostly at parties playing blues-rock and a plethora of familiar covers. As winter crept up we began writing original songs and worked really hard to get gigs and gain some notice. By spring of '03 we began playing regularly at open mics and other local clubs in Bloomington. We continued to play these small gigs and parties but as summer ended it came time for the drummer and lead guitarist to move on. Although this was a major set back, Brad and Evan continued to play as an acoustic guitar and bass duo as they searched for the replacements. During the winter of '03 the new drummer and guitarist were found and the Sarkastiks were back in buisness. During a few month span John and Dustin were intorduced to the material and contributed new material as well. Springtime came around and The Sarkastiks were ready to roll. We began playing as many shows as possible all over town and really improved in the process. That summer we were invited to play the June Jamboree music festival. This is an annual event held just south of Indianapolis which we're invited back this year. After a fairly decent performance in Bloomington's battle of the bands contest, in the fall of '04, we began recording our first album at DMA Studios in Bloomington. The eleven original songs were finished in Jan. '05 then we played a few local shows as our small "CD Release Tour". SInce then we've played the June Jamboree 05, Indianapolis and Chicago a few times. The end of the summer brought a new change. After grauation from college, Dustin moved on. Not letting the dust settle, we quickly added George Loy to replace him. We put on a huge Labor Day party and booked several shows to break George in. With him now in place we're are looking to expand in all directions and out of the state of Indiana all together. Our website has many songs for your listening enjoyment.

Band Members: Brad Odom - guitar, vocals, bass. Evan Turner - bass, vocal, guitar. George Loy - lead guitar. John Pinizzotto - drums, attitude.
Influences: Classic Rock: Stones, The Who, The Kinks, Neil Young, Zappa, T-Rex Modern Rock: Beck, Mike Patton, Ween, Primus, COmets on Fire, Queens of the Stone Age and anything wierd & anything that kicks your teeth in and makes you wanna puke. We're into alot of the local bands in our area. As said before we cover Chuck Berry, Ween , Wilson Pickett, Jethro Easyfields, FNM, Beck. We're influnced by all rock music, we consume it and re-gurgitate on stage.
Sounds Like: The style of music The Sarkastiks play can only be described as eclectic rock. They seamlessly blend virtually every style of rock n roll to create an original and fresh sound. Playing mostly originals and sounding like a classic rock band one song, and a punk band the next, The Sarkastiks have built a solid musical foundation of straight ahead rock n roll that spans the entire rock spectrum. Someone once said we sound like The Rolling Stones meet Primus. Another person said we sound like Mudhoney. But actually we sound like Oscar The Grouch feeling up a Cabbage Patch Kid. Or Gi Joe beating up a Ken doll. But sarkastikally, we sound like a classic rock band at times with a modern/punk twist. Although we are an original band we cover anything from Chuck Berry to Ween. Britney & Nsync covers coming soon. Spin Doctors & Hootie soon there after!
