About Me

I am in Australia as of 17th March 08. Please bear with me for Friend requests and messages Thanks ; )
I progressed through listening to Indie in the late 80's and started getting in to the hardcore and jungle sound in around 1992 - 93 whilst still at school. Joey Beltrams energy flash became a defining record for me somewhere around this point and probably started my love for techno, although I didn't know it then.
By 1996 I was a full bore trance head and was an avid follower of dj's such as Mark EG, M Zone and Fergus. I used to buy tape packs from events such as vibealite; I was still underage to go to raves then. I would listen to the tapes over and over and marvel at the depth of sound and the vibe created by the dj's. In their sets there was the odd acid techno record. Although I didn't know what acid techno was at that time, these tracks were some of my favourite tunes off the tapes. I later found them out to be some tracks from the early days of Stay up forever.
It all changed for me in 1997 after my first Ecstacy tablet whereby I converted my large group of friends in to raging party heads after attending my first party. We then began to go to raves all over the country every single weekend. I started dj'ing eventually; early in the year 2000 after I got pissed off with all the commercial bullshit that sarted to flood the scene by the likes of Judge Jules & co. I had been a trance head since the mid nineties and I was dismayed to see the scene get practically ruined overnight. I watched the regulars disappear, the music become sanitised, some of these superclubs trying to do advertising deals with corporations like McDonalds and generally just see so called "superstar DJ's" completely sell out the entire scene. I guess I just wanted to bring back the haivn it sound of trance back to the dancefloor more than anything else at that time.
Since then my taste evolved and turned more to the acid techno secene as it had the principles I originally admired about going raving in the first place - PLUR. The acid techno scene is also intrinsically linked with the free party scene - for those of you that don't know; a rave ain't ever in a club ; ) Sometimes I find myself going to parties where people are conciencious of what other people are thinking and it seems to me that people are unable to loose themselves in the music or let go like they used too. The constraints imposed by society tend to stop people letting go completely. Perhaps they feel they have to look a certain way, perhaps they feel they have to be out to impress everyone.... or maybe its just the original message has been lost somewhere along the way. I always thought the idea of raving was to go somewhere and leave all your troubles outside the door.... This is more apparent in the more overtly commercial nights but thankfully the free party scene and many underground nights have managed to prevent the rot from setting in and these parties continue to inspire me and keep me interested in the scene!!
By 2002 the next stage for me was to learn producing. I started messing around with an audio program called Reason and slowly built up my production skills from there. I eventually took an HND which didn't really teach me how to produce music or even mixdown and master it; but it did give me a very useful technical grounding in many of the processes I use in the studio. I like to make dark music as I guess that is the predominant side of my persona. When I'm making a track I want it to be energetic, aggressive and nasty more often than not! Hence the industrial horror techno and trance tag. I do write other styles like prog trance and jungle, although I mainly focus on writing techno and trance with free party dancefloors in mind.
I have since had success, getting tracks signed on to up & coming forward thinking labels like Sabretooth and Genuine Error records in the last year. I have also rolled out my live P.A a couple of times with great feedback from party goers; although I'm still not completely happy with it! I have just got a new laptop so I can actualy do more than I could with my old clapped out 1.9ghz machine... I can finally implement the changes I have desired to do so for a while. Currently I am a resident for the Energised soundsystem and the West Midlands radio pirates Midlands Rush 92.2FM I'm surrounded by like minded people in both crews and I'm proud to work with them all on their respective projects as they keep a true underground ethos about everything they do.
