The Virginia native’s 830th career start came at New Hampshire International Speedway on September 19, 2004. The 2005 Daytona 500 will mark Rudd’s 840th start in the series and his 753rd consecutive race.A pole at Talladega in May, 2004 boosted Rudd’s career total first place starting spots to 29.Ricky’s career in NASCAR’s top series began in 1975 with four races for car owner Bill Champion. Then he moved to a team owned by his father, Al Rudd, Sr. He has 23 victories to his credit with six of those coming in Bud Moore’s Motorcraft-sponsored Ford during the mid-1980’s.
