The insanity begins on July 11 1970 in Columbus Ohio. The seeds are planted at an early age, when his aunt Althea meets entrepreneur Larry Flynt. Althea starts as a dancer in Larry's clubs, but quits to help him expand the clubs newsletters into a full-blown but controversial national publication. About this time, Justin is exposed to Kiss, Ted Nugent, and AC/DC around the age of 6 by his older cousin. "Next thing I know, i've got a copy of Kiss Alive in one hand and HUSTLER magazine in the other. The music had such an impact on me. I was blown away by the over-the-top visuals and theatrics of Kiss-especially Gene, Ted Nugents aggression and sex-drive, and the raw power of AC/DC. I was hooked. I'd find anything and play air guitar on it." After Althea and Larry's business turned into an empire, they got married, and after few too many lawsuits, they moved LFP operations west to LA. But they missed family so they'd fly justin and his mom into california to stay when Justin wasnt in school. "On one of these visits, I guess Althea saw enough of my air guitar and in 1981 she gave me a few guitars, an amp, and some rock clothes to take back to Ohio."
In the early 80's, 2 scenes that would dominate the decade-LA glam metal and San Francisco thrash-would heavily influence Justin. "I was slow to pick up guitar for a few years until I heard a band out of LA and just happened to be friends of Althea and Larry's. The year--1983, the band--MOTLEY CRUE." Justin then began taking lessons. "My best friend also started playing guitar and he was big into the thrash scene, always playing me his favorite bands." i loved the heavy music. Althea and Larry were still flying us in to LA and I took in the now-booming LA rock scene as much as any teenager could. Bands were getting signed at a hectic pace and they all looked cool and kicked ass." But behind the excess and decadence of the 80's, lurked a plague that would change Justin's life. "My guitar playing was behind where I wanted to be, but that all changed on June 27th 1987. We got the call that Althea has lost her battle with Aids. From that day, music has been number 1 in my life."
"I put together a band with my neighborhood friends, we learned a few songs, and I played my first show in my garage. But some asshole called the cops, and our set was cut short." Justin went from band to band after graduating H.S.-each band getting better in ability and songs. in 1996, Justin joined a Cleveland Ohio band called Shock Cinema. "In the span of 6 years, we'd open for some of my favorite national bands, release 3 albums, and play 2 shows in LA in 2000." But in 2002, Justin needed a change and left the band. Since them, Justin has been writing songs and is looking to form a new band completely of his own vision. "A band that looks like what rockstars should-a little glammy, but has a dark heavy and aggressive sound--and leave behind a path of mass destruction wherever the music takes us! its not politically correct--its gonna be loud, pissed off, and its gonna kick your ass in 2008!!!!!"Get Online Now Icons
