Sometimes it's hard to fit such an eclectic band in with other groups in this area. While hardcore and screamo blast away, we prefer a more groove oriented and rock 'n' roll sound. We are The Remedy, a retro rock band from Norfolk, Virginia.
The group started out as just hanging out and jamming between Chris and Daniel, friends since elementary school. This evolved into attempts with other friends at a band but these groups fell through. Daniel had met Ian at a summer camp and both were in band class and marching band together, resulting in Daniel asking Ian to join their last group on bass before The Remedy had initiated. After that fell through, Ian, Chris, and Daniel would sit around and sing and play guitar together a little bit. In need of a drummer, Daniel thought of Igor, who was also in marching band and band class with the guys, so Chris and Daniel approached Igor about joining. But the trio was put on hold when Ian had to move up North.
Once again in need of a bassist, Chris had Joey look the bass part to "You Know What To Do." Chris and Daniel went out to pick up lunch and when they returned Joey had learned the whole part with relatively no experience on a bass guitar. Joey was now the bassist. Ian returned for a weekend one day and recorded the vocals for "It's Been A Long Time" on Chris' computer. The take sounded phenomenal, resulting in Ian's re-inclusion into the group as vocals/keyboard. Because Ian would return every weekend, the guys could practice with him and do gigs. Now The Remedy was a full unit with Ian, Chris, and Daniel singing, Ian ..boards and sometimes guitar, Daniel and Chris on guitar, Joey on bass, and Igor on drums.
The Remedy has been a full group for a year and a few months while they've been publicly playing gigs for 10 months. Even though each member is relatively young, their musicianship shines creating a pleasant surprise for many listeners. Constantly congratulated on their sound, the band continues to play gigs and write in hopes of reaching the next level.
