for me...lots of work, lots and lots of work...art, music, good films, spontaneous human combustion, sexy boots, the shroud of turin, jack the ripper, hagiography, photographic apparitions, cryptozoology, anthropodermic bibliopegy (look that one up, you will like it!). you know the usual.
Music....I need it all the time. I pay attention to lyrics and like a song with a story so...Tom Waits, Joni Mitchell, Croby Stills Nash & Young, Neil Young on his own, Joan Baez, The Doors, Led Zepplin, The Allman Brothers. I also dig Lounge/Chill/Electronica. I love Jazz, I don't go a day without it, it makes me happy, I like vocals but not always. I've loved Concrete Blonde for ever. I love Dead Can Dance, Lovage, Bob Dylan, Bread, The Scissor Sisters, Edie Brickell, Gwen Stefani, Paul Simon...and while I am thinking about it, there is a song by The Stranglers called Golden Brown and it is absolutely one of my favorite songs of all time...and Stevie Nicks, god, I love her. Go listen to some Old Crow Medicine Show, Gil Landry, the Kitchen Syncopators and The Gilded Bats, that is an order!
I love movies! I am picky but not a total snob about it. I don't usually go for anything that comes in at number one at the box office but I do like me some bad films, especially from the 70s, the best of the worst came out of that decade.
The Soup and The Simpsons. And my absolute favorite, edging out The Simpsons right now is The Mighty Boosh! Oh my god, so funny and weird!!!! Go find some, NOW! it is probably old news to most people but we just finished Carnivale, it was great!
if I started listing books that I love you would assume that I am insane so I am not even going to start. To give you a taste I own several volumes about the plague, the Knights Templar, mistranslations in the bible and all the apocrypha...they all live on my bookshelves with my art books, medieval history books, Edward Gorey, Pin-Up Art, Shag Books and more.
at the risk of offending anyone I am not making a list but you know who you are and i love all of you.
