Hi, I'm a little new at this, so bear with me till I get more stuff up here. I'm the Statue of Liberty and I was a gift from France to the American people as a symbol of freedom. Built entirely based on donations from the French (Americans funded and constructed my base), it was to commemorate America's Declaration of Independence and to celebrate the friendship of France and the United States at the time. Made of copper and steel, I was a brown color for only about twenty years before the copper in my metal started turning green from the elements.
