The Royal Crowns

About Me

Formed in the summer of 1990, Toronto's Royal Crowns have been blending rockabilly, jazz, rock and roll, country and surf into a musical genre all their own. Their latest CD "After Dark" is a remarkable example of the Royal Crowns' rootsy sound. Available November 4th from Maplemusic.com with a record release party at Toronto's Horseshoe Tavern it's a welcome follow up to their critically acclaimed "32 Miles from Memphis"; which made the National Post's Top Canadian Albums of All Time; and landed them in the Disney channel movie "Moms Got a Date with a Vampire" where they performed 3 songs.
Over the years they've been joined on stage by the likes of Angus and Malcom Young of AC-DC; Robert Gordon, Ron Sexsmith, Memphis guitar great Steve Cropper, Russell Decarle & Keith Grass of Prairie Oyster, Greg Keelor and James Gray of Blue Rodeo, New York Saxaphone great "Blue" Lou Marini - to name a few.

Q&A WITH TEDDY FURY OF THE ROYAL CROWNS
Where's the best place to go in Toronto after dark?
Behind the wheel of your car, your favourite music blasting, doing the Bayview Extension to the DVP to the Gardiner loop to the Spadina exit, and then up to Queen for some adult beverages with your best friends.

My Interests

Band Members:

The Royal Crowns are led by guitarist-singer Danny Bartley, a former member of Shotgun Shack and the Razor Backs. Danny is probably the leading rockabilly guitarist in the country. In his spare time Danny enjoys country life, camping and good home style cooking.

Holding down the bottom end, on the upright bass is Jason Adams. Jason's rare moments away from the band stand are filled with Hot Rodding his 53 Ford, graphic arts and finding the perfect pomade.

On drums, vocals and wisecracks is Teddy Fury, a former member of the seminal rockabilly outfit the Bopcats, he puts the swing in the thing. Teddy's time off the skins is consumed by long drives in his '59 Desoto, late night scrabble games and Indian cuisine.
