In 1971, after several years of legal battles, Southwest Airlines finally began service with four planes and flights to Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio. What began as a small Texas airline has grown to become one of the largest airlines in America.Today, Southwest Airlines flies more than 65 million passengers a year, on over 450 planes, to 62 great cities, all across the country, and more than 3,000 times a day.
