Twenty years ago the students of California State University, Chico recognized the need for student led adventures in the wilds of Northern California and beyond. This realization was the birth of Adventure Outings.
Today, Adventure Outings is funded by the Associated Students. We provide trip leadership, information and educational experiences for roughly 40 adventures each semester. AO's trip leaders are students of the University, who provide the guidance that has gained Adventure Outings a national reputation for program excellence.
At Adventure Outings you will experience exciting activities that are as much a part of your education as History, English or Anthropology. If you can't find a friend to go with, don't worry, many participants sign up by themselves just so they can meet new people while enjoying nature. Many participants have developed friendships that last long after the trip is over. All outings (unless otherwise listed) are suitable for beginners.MISSION: The mission of Adventure Outings is to conduct state of the art, adventure related activities and programs structured to enhance the experiences of the Chico State University community.WHAT ADVEVENTURE OUTINGS PROVIDES: Trip fees are as low as possible to cover leadership, transportation in our vans, camping fees, and technical equipment like boats, climbing gear and so forth. AO does not provide personal clothes, camping equipment and food. If you need equipment you can rent it from our rental center at half off the student rate.
