About Me

This Layout Was Provided By Layouts Wow - SEXY MySpace Layouts! I'm a guy who thought he would never quit. More on that later.. I've done years of gigs,& recording, supporting other artists' visions, in and out of the studios.Toured with JOHN HIATT, JON BUTCHER.Played on most of TOM HAMBRIDGE'S Still Standing" CD, all of DIDI STEWART' 1st album 3 tracks on KARLA DEVITO'S debut album,a couple of blazing guitar tracks on PETER C. JOHNSON'S debut CBS international LP, my first paid session when I was 19. ____________________________________________________________ ____ People know me for my guitar playing. Now, you can get to know my songs, my voice, and my story. I have a CD coming out soon, that will have 17 songs Yeah, OK, so when can you buy it ? Workin' on that, in the meantime, you can DOWNLOAD (to have & to copy) ALL of the songs on the main player. On the 7 Digital Indie Store player so you can preview 4 more of my songs- all the way thru. Buy them if you like. Sorry that snocap player gives only 30 sec samples, I have no control over that. If you like any of those songs enough to want them in your collection, consider it the option to donate $ to the artist who also gives it away-------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ -------- Here's some more of where I traveled in this musician's journey, to now..~ At age 19, left Berkee college of Music to join my favorite local band at the time,Orchestra Luna. I loved that band and all 4 of RICK BERLIN'S bands I was his partner in. That is a whole page itself that doesn't go here. If you are curious about that part of my career, some of it shows up on Rick Berlin.comAt age 21, politely said no to MEATLOAF'S offer to tour, out of artistic devotion to ORCHESTRA LUNA-the project that Rick Berlin & I turned into a Rock'n'roll theatre phenomenon in Boston and and NYC. Orchestra Luna used to play CBGB's with THE TALKING HEADS .That band became LUNA, then BERLIN AIRLIFT. I began writing during the last band- RICK BERLIN-THE MOVIE. Why Can't I Change was a song of mine we performed (in one of my pics, that's JULIE WOODS, singing my guitar solo with me) After many "almost signed" recording deals,I finally left to form my own band. Not long after that, found out I was HIV POS. Still perfectly healthy, I pressed on, playing my songs with my new band for awhile. I was doing a day job and falling asleep behind the counter at a futon furniture store I worked at when I got the call from my friend Robert Bennett -to audition in Nashville for the JOHN HIATT touring band band. Got the gig.. I'd be rehearsing in Nashville for three weeks, then on tour across American and Canada. After those rehearsals, I got home, wrote and recorded some songs which benefited greatly from Hiatt's songwriting influence. I also recorded one of his songs-Have a Little Faith, (love to sing it, feel like it's mine)The next tour with HIATT, & ROBERT CRAY was in Australia & New Zealand. Wow, can I live there from November to April? It's their summer, and Australians I met are such "nothing phony" people. I want to tour there, they will get me.. Calling on Australians to make me your friend...Came back home from that tour to find out I technically had an AIDS diagnosis. The numbers at least.Still not sick, why stop? joined TH & the Wreckage. --------Recorded with TOM HAMBRIDGE on the CD "Still Standing" Also did a marathon"getting ready 4 Nashville" recording session w Hambridge. During that session, I already was developing cancer. Only a few months later, I was in chemotherapy for non- hodgekins Lymphoma.I wasn't about to leave this planet without a hit song, decided to STICK AROUND* -listen to the song-~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ These illnesses had me out of circulation for awhile, but I never really stopped doing music until this time During my last CANCER (the third one) , my longtime friend VIRGINIA from way back (pre- teenage years) felt driven to call me. I'd gotten to the point where the sacred magic of music was seeming to be lost. I didn't know if I could really keep trying to get my music out. Or even keep playing. For a moment, I quit........................................... She'd have none of me giving up.....and in a life-changing conversation with her, I was thinking possibility again....VIRGINIA is a true friend who had an intuition about my desperate state... Sure glad she did. As a friend who cares and totally believes in my music, she's been helping me think big again. Not my manager, publicist, or girlfriend, she just loves me. And I just love her. A perfect balance. And through her sincere communications, she has discovered some amazing musicians here, and introduced me to them. Like--- SKY ABOUT TO RAIN--Check him out! the music is like a spell he casts that pulls you in, takes you on a trip you like..my english brother now. We have recently started a new website for the purpose of helping our favorite artists get some more recognition. Based in Australia will have special featured artists, interviews, lots of great music from my friends.. http://www.myspace.com/ozglobalindieportal Check it out!================================================= BEYOND the last big news that I am CANCER FREE, there is NEWER NEWS: that my HIV numbers - viral load dropped to UN-DETECTABLE (from 24k) This translates as : my immune system bouncing back. I no longer have an AIDS diagnosis Stay tuned for CD release, and new band invention, live shows, new pics. LOVE to all my friends and to everyone who reads this, and hears my songs. I have felt a new energy since I got connected to myspace and all the loving greetings from friends. We all help each other here..From my heart, Steven
