About Me

I'm an alt-country singer-songwriter from Chicago. I moved to Chicago ten years ago from Iowa City after my college band "SHELTERING SKY" went bust. Upon my arrival Chicago I formed the short-lived band "SUGARBOTTOM" then went on to form "RUSK." Rusk put out two well-received cd's (Rusk, and Echoes of Uptown) before I pulled the plug on it and finally set out on a solo career.Since then I, whether I'm hosting the Songwriter-in-the-Round at the House of Blues Restaurant, or playing a gig at a larger venue with my entire band, I'm billed simply as Thomas Pace. So far I've released three cd's. The first "Walking Distance" is a gem if I say so myself. Ten songs about growing up and working to see myself as an adult. I'm quite proud of it.The second cd, "If You Want to Be Heard, Speak Up!" is a four-song, politically motivate disc I released just before the heartbreaking 2004 presidential election. This disc, despite being so short, really helped me get a lot of national attention and has sold the most copies of my solo records. The third solo cd is "Electrocaine." This record takes a hard look at the American experience and is, I believe, my best work. With the help of some of the best musicans from Chicago and beyond this one of those records that continues to reveal itself the more you listen to it. Each song is full of subtlies and secrets within the stories.I'm currently at UPTOWN RECORDING working on the fourth record and things are going great. Three tracks are essentially finished (one of which "The Damage is Done" can be found on my website www.thomaspace.com).That's it, that's me in a nutshell. If any of this interests you let me know and we can discuss further. But that's enough about me, tell me about yourself.
