Go on...check below (you know you want to)! Just click on the colorful pics for some Wiki-info (but keep an eye out for SPOILERS)! Feel free to ask me about whatever else, too. ^_^
I'd like to meet:
Aside from those listed below, it would be meeting YOU! Don't be shy like me, OK?
The Beatles : No explanation is necessary. However, I would need a time machine for it to come true, though!
Bôa (check out their music video below): A band based in the UK whose music struck a chord with countless animé fans such as myself when their song 'Duvet' made its debut as the opening theme song to 'Serial Experiments Lain'. Bloody brilliant!
Bôa - 'Duvet'
Jasmine Rodgers: Voice
Steve Rodgers: Guitar, Vacuum
Alex Caird: Bass, Sword
Lee Sullivan: Drums
Ben Henderson: Guitar, Sword
Paul Turrell (a.k.a Chester 'Hoopshank' Hooper): Keyboards, String Arrangement (which were well-hidden by an official Hoopshank Corporation FABBER-infused Cloaking Device), Vacuum
Yasunori Mitsuda : My choice as the world's greatest music composer ever (not to mention us sharing the same birthdate, too). If you don't mind some emotion/mood in your music (with some Celtic influence thrown in), then Mitsuda's stuff is for you!
Dead Can Dance (yes...a video below): One of the world's most eclectic music duo of our time. I had the pleasure of seeing them live back in the 90s and it was one of the most memorable concerts I've ever been to. Their performance was so, shall we say, captivating! An old Tower Records coworker of mine always called vocalist/composer Lisa Gerrard 'THE Voice'...and that she still is...
Dead Can Dance - 'Rakim'
Brendan Perry: Lead Voice, Percussion
Lisa Gerrard: The Voice of Reason, Yangqin
Rónán Ó Snodaigh: Bodhrán, Percussion
Robert Perry: Percussion, Bouzouki
Lance Hogan: Percussion
John Bonnar: Keyboards
Andrew Claxton: Keyboards
Blonde Redhead : The best of post-punk, avant-garde and pop all rolled into one. Saw them live some years back. They were awesome. They still are. Cheers.
Rush : Canada's greatest influential rock trio. These guys STILL deserve a lot more credit than they actually have (Rock & Roll Hall of Fame anyone?). Add some sci-fi prog from the 70s, throw in some synth pop from the 80s, mix it w/some alternative crunch from the 90s, and finally a dash of modern-day back-to-basics...and that is your recipe for the beauty that is called Rush!
Last but not least... Genesis (you guessed it...a video below): The great Peter Gabriel & Steve Hackett era. Before they became a 'pop' trio outfit of the 80s, the former quintet of the 70s were, and in a sense, still are (thanx to the hardcore fans) one of the best prog-rock bands ever...so don't gimme that 'prog is dead' bullcrap. That friggin' time machine would definitely come in handy once again, just to see 'em perform live...theatrics, humor, costumes & make-up included. Heh!
Genesis - 'The Musical Box'
Tony Banks: Keyboards, Guitar (what a lovely 12-string!)
Peter Gabriel: Voice, Flute, Percussion, Flamboyance
Phil Collins: Drums, Voice
Steve Hackett-to-pieces: Guitar, Glasses
Mike Rutherford: Guitar, Bass Pedals (minus any unaccompanied bass pedal solos)
Music:
To list ALL of the music I love (which, mind you, also includes ANYTHING & EVERYTHING by the Beatles) could potentially impose a dire situation for the MySpace server, soooooo here's a handful of 'em instead. Just so that I am not biased, the Beatles will not count here.
OK, so I am a little biased...in a humorous way. :p Oh well! Nobody's perfect, I suppose...but since I am nobody, does that make me perfect? Eh...nevermind.
Movies:
Epics & animé are my ideal flicks of choice. For starters, here's "few" of 'em.
Television:
I really don't watch the telly, except when absolutely necessary...por ejemplo, when I watch movies/animé or if (emphasis on IF) I play old school video games. Heh.
Video Games
Here are some fave classic games of mine...which are mostly (if not all) RPGs.
Here's a gamer's inside joke for you...in Engrish !
Books:
Yes...I know I should read more often. Usually, I read to my kids, but there are just sooooo many damn good books out there (both read and unread) that it's just overwhelming to start reading one and unsuccessfully not be able to finish it due to some lame excuse. I must try harder!!
Heroes:
My wife & kids, my partner-in-sanity Lilo , Captain Harlock , and the great many lifesavers, teachers, children, philanthropists, filmmakers, philosophers, artists, writers, genius musicians, brave soldiers/veterans, heroic firefighters, good cops (bad cops...no donuts for you), peaceful activists, honorable samurai, clumsy ninja, valiant elves, boneheaded turkeys, pathetic morons, stupid criminals, etc. who inspire us each and everyday of our lives to become a better species...hopefully. Thank you.
