Captain Jack Sparrow.
Pirates of the Caribbean;;
Curse of the Black Pearl;;
Jack Sparrow was searching for the legendary Chest of Cortez containing Aztec gold. After sharing the bearings with his crew, First Mate Hector Barbossa led a mutiny and marooned him on an island with only a pistol containing a single shot (allowing the option of suicide over starvation). After three days, Sparrow bartered passage off the island with rum runners, but kept the pistol to kill his former first mate. Ten years later, Sparrow arrives in Port Royal to commandeer a ship, but he is arrested for piracy after saving Elizabeth Swann, the governor's daughter, from drowning. That night, the Black Pearl attacks Port Royal, seeking the last Aztec medallion that will break the curse that has rendered the pirate crew into the undead. Elizabeth possesses the coin by chance and is kidnapped. The next morning, the coin's true owner, Will Turner, a blacksmith, seeks Sparrow's help to rescue Elizabeth, whom he secretly loves. Sparrow agrees when he realizes it is Will who can break the curse and can be used to bargain back the Black Pearl. Will frees Sparrow from jail, and they hijack HMS Interceptor. After recruiting a crew in Tortuga they head to Isla de Muerta where the pirates have gone to break the curse. Distrusting Jack, Will knocks him unconscious from behind and escapes with Elizabeth. They set sail on the Interceptor, but the Black Pearl pursues them. The Interceptor is sunk in a fiece battle and the crew is captured. After learning Turner can break the curse, Barbossa maroons Jack and Elizabeth and imprisons the crew. Elizabeth burns an abandoned rum stockpile as a signal, and they are rescued by Commodore James Norrington. Jack provides the bearings to Isla de Muerta after Elizabeth persuades Norrington to rescue Will. At the island, Jack strolls into the cave, interrupting Will's forced sacrifice. He informs the stunned Barbossa that Norrington is waiting outside to ambush them and proposes an alliance. When Barbossa agrees and sends the crew to fight the navy, Jack attacks him, after which Barbossa impales him with his sword. When Jack stumbles backwards into the moonlight, he is revealed to be an immortal skeleton—having snuck a coin from the chest to curse himself. Sparrow and Turner lift the curse just before Jack fatally shoots Barbossa with the single shot he has carried for ten years. No longer immortal, Barbossa falls dead, and the remaining now-mortal pirates surrender. Jack is arrested and returned to Port Royal for hanging, but with help from Will and Elizabeth, the execution is interrupted, and he escapes by falling off the rampart and into the bay where the Black Pearl is waiting. Sparrow is captain once again.

Dead Man's Chest;;
Thirteen years ago, Captain Sparrow obtained the Black Pearl from Captain Davy Jones by bargaining his soul in exchange for 100 years service aboard the infamous ghost ship, The Flying Dutchman. Now the debt is due. One night, Sparrow's former shipmate, "Bootstrap Bill" Turner appears and marks him with the Black Spot, a sign that the Kraken is hunting him. Meanwhile, Lord Cutler Beckett of the East India Trading Company arrests Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann for aiding in Sparrow's escape. With Elizabeth in jail, Beckett offers clemency if Will agrees to search for Sparrow and his compass. He has Letters of Marquee with which to recruit Sparrow as a privateer. Otherwise, Will, Elizabeth and former Commodore James Norrington will be executed. Will finds Jack and the crew held captive by cannibals on Pelegosto. They escape, barely making it to the Black Pearl.Rowing upriver, they visit Tia Dalma, a voodoo priestess with whom Jack hints he was once close. Sparrow shows her a drawing of a key; he does not know where to find it, and his magical compass has failed him. Tia Dalma says it will not work because Jack does not know what he truly wants or he is, "loath to claim it as his own." She tells them the legend of Davy Jones and the Dead Man's Chest. When Jones lost his true love, his pain was so deep that he carved out his heart and buried it in a chest. The key is kept with him. Back at sea, the Pearl encounters Davy Jones, who has come to claim his debt. Jack cleverly attempts to exchange Will for himself, but Davy Jones says that Jacks's soul is one hundred times more valuable than Will's,and demands 100 souls within three days in exchange for Jack's. Jones keeps Turner as a "good faith" payment while removing Sparrow's Black Spot.In Tortuga, Jack and Gibbs recruit unsuspecting sailors. A fallen James Norrington and an escaped Elizabeth join the crew. When Elizabeth demands to know what has happened to Will, Jack says he was press-ganged into Davy Jones' crew, although Norrington doubts Jack's claim that he was uninvolved. Captain Jack reveals the compass' secret to Elizabeth, telling her she can save Will by finding the Dead Man's Chest. The compass works at last. After setting sail for Isla Cruces, Elizabeth discloses it was Cutler Beckett who sent Will and shows Jack and Gibbs the Letters of Marque. Overhearing their conversation, Norrington sets his own plan in motion. The captain then expresses an amorous interest in Elizabeth, who coyly rebuffs his attempts to woo her. When he tries to kiss her, the Black Spot suddenly reappears on his palm, and he hastily retreats. The Kraken is on the hunt again.On Isla Cruces, Sparrow, Elizabeth and Norrington find the chest. Will arrives with the key (having escaped from the Flying Dutchman). Each man claims the heart. Turner hopes to free his father from Davy Jones' servitude, Jack wants to escape his blood debt, and Norrington schemes to reclaim his career. Sparrow proves victorious in their three-way sword fight and takes the heart. However, After the pirates starnge confrontation, the crew comes face-to-face in a clash against Davy Jones's crew, during which Jack knocks Will unconcious, and Norrington steals the heart and the Letters of Marque and escapes while Jones' crew retrieves the empty chest.Back at sea, the Dutchman pursues the Pearl, but the Pearl outruns her. Jones summons the Kraken. Understanding the fine line between bravery and foolishness, Jack deserts the Pearl. However, Sparrow's underlying loyalty and honor compel him to return and save his shipmates. The Captain rearrives on the Pearl and temporarily wards off the behemoth sea-monster in a gun-powder explosion. Knowing the Kraken will return, he gives the order to abandon ship. Realizing the Kraken is only after Jack, Elizabeth distracts him with a passionate kiss and shackles him to the mast. She claims she is not sorry for her actions, to which Jack responded "Pirate". Elizabeth tells the other shipmates that Jack chose to remain behind, unaware Will witnessed the kiss. As Jack goes down fighting, he and theBlack Pearl are pulled to a watery grave. Davy Jones declares their debt settled. Jones' first mate states that not even Jack Sparrow can best the devil, but when Jones discovers the Dead Man's Chest is empty, it seems Captain Jack Sparow has apparently
played the devil to a draw.
Pirates of the Caribbean;;
At World's End;;
Jack Sparrow has been sent to Davy Jones' Locker, which for him is a purgatory-like desert where he and the Black Pearl are stranded for eternity. Having been there for some time now, it appears Jack has lost his mind, often hallucinating about multiple versions of himself and eating peanuts. He believes he is being stalked by rocks after he tosses one away and it reappears. It turns into a strange crab-like creature, and soon more appear. To Jack's amazement, they carry the Pearl to an ocean shore. There he is reunited with Elizabeth, Will, Barbossa, and his old crew who have come to rescue him. With them is Tia Dalma, who guided the crew to the Locker with a map belonging to the Chinese pirate Sao Feng, the Pirate Lord of Singapore. Jack initially refuses to crew with those who have tried killing him in the past (with Elizabeth succeeding), and he and Barbossa squabble over who is the Black Pearl's captain. They escape to the living world after Jack solves a riddle on Sao Feng's map: Up is Down, meaning everything is opposite. To return to the living world at sunrise, the ship must be capsized at sunset while in the Locker.Jack is revealed to be one of the nine Pirate Lords (he of the Caribbean). He and the other pirate lords have been summoned to attend the Brethren Court on Shipwreck Cove in response to Cutler Beckett's assault on piracy. At Beckett's command are Captain Davy Jones and the British Royal Navy. Elizabeth, meanwhile, was made a pirate lord by Sao Feng's before his death. During the Brethren Court, she is voted as "Pirate King," the only one who can declare war. She is elected due to Jack's intervention, although it appears he does so for his own reasons. Elizabeth orders the pirate lords to stand and fight Beckett and the East India Trading Company. After negotiating a deal with Beckett, Jack gets himself aboard the Flying Dutchman. Fearing death, Jack steals the Dead Man's Chest containing Davy Jones' heart. He intends to stab it, thus killing Jones and replacing him as the Dutchman's immortal captain. But during the climatic battle between Jack and Davy Jones, Jones mortally wounds Will Turner. Jack hesitates to stab the heart, torn between killing Jones or staying a pirate. "Bootstrap" Bill, Will's father, is enraged and attacks Jones, while Jack forces Will's lifeless hand to stab the heart; Jack has sacrificed his bid for immortality to save Will, who becomes the Flying Dutchman's immortal captain. Will and Elizabeth, who were married by Captain Barbossa in the climatic battle, share one last day on a desert island where Will gives Elizabeth the Deadman's Chest containing his heart for safe-keeping before leaving on the Flying Dutchman.At the film's end, the Black Pearl has once again been commandeered by Barbossa, who intends to search for the Fountain of Youth with Sao Feng's map. Jack, stranded in Tortuga, anticipated Barbossa's deceit and had already removed the map's middle portion. Jack sets sail in a small, leaky boat, much to the disappointment of Giselle and Scarlett, who he had promised to take for a ride in his 'big vessel' and again earns himself two slaps from them. With the map and his magical compass to guide him, Jack sets sail for his destination—the path to immortality and freedom to sail the seas for eternity.
