About Me

------------------------------------------------CLICK ON THIS PIC TO LISTEN TO MORE OF MY GUITAR PLAYING~
If you are reading this-------please check out this link to my original music~~~~~~http://www.myspace.com/garygrangerwith3lc -----I am a Louisiana native, attended UL-Lafayette and graduated with a Chemistry degree and currently attend the Southern College of Optometry. I have played the guitar since age 12 and have made a living as a professional musician since age 18. I have taught hundreds of people guitar lessons in the past 10 years and have toured 30 states at various times in my music career.Composing my own music that is influenced by jazz, rock, funk and blues has been an important phase in my musical development and I feel lucky to now have enough original music to perform a 90 minute set on any stage, given the opportunity. It was very ear-opening to be a huge RUSH fan and rocking out in high school and then going to college and playing Top-40 covers and then join a country band--eventually opening for George Jones, Merle Haggard, Lee Greenwood, Brenda Lee, Sylvia, Eddie Rabbitt, and other "stars" in a world utterly unlike what I grew up listening to! My musical ears were opened up to hearing great singing and harmony to a greater degree than I had allowed myself to enjoy early on.Then of course, Wes Montgomery, Allan Holdsworth, John McLaughlin, Mike Stern, Michael Brecker, SCOFIELD and many others gave me more to learn from. The journey never really ends with regard to learning, however I still love the classic rock bands I grew up with too....I just like being creative with harmonic choices as well.I love to hike, sail, play tennis, golf, go bowling and yada yada... In the kitchen, I am dangerous...I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4 I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
