Just going by stuff thats still on...Dexter, Mythbusters, Weeds, Man vs. Wild, Any and all snake specials, Most wildlife/science specials in general, G4TV is great, The Deadliest Catch (makes me REALLY appreciate my crab), Jeopardy and Conan O'Brien when I feel like movin away from cable. The Family Guy and South Park when I feel like something animated...Used to be The Simpsons like 3 times a day but sadly theyve grown stale in the later seasons. Adult Swim and any other random interesting thing that comes on.
Books:
Mostly medical textbooks. Medicine, Anatomy, Toxicology, Physiology, Biology. Anything by the beat generation authors. Snake and nature books. Snakes of the Agkistrodon Complex AKA. "The Big Green Bible". Got some art books and some orchid books and some random cool books etc. etc. These lists could just go on and on it seems.
Heroes:
ALTON BROWN!!!! Unfortunately most of them are fictional or deceased. e.g. V, Tyler Durden, Batman, Nikola Tesla, Albert Einstein "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." my favorite quote of his. Thomas Jefferson, Samuel Adams, Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, Mohandas Ghandi, Martin Luther King Jr., Che Guevera, Picasso, Van Gogh, Da Vinci, Klimt, Mucha, James Joyce, William Burroughs, Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, etc. etc. etc. as for those still living...All I have are the fore mentioned Mr. Brown, Bill Haast and Jeff Corwin...NOT that inferior Steve Irwin. Don't get me wrong...His love for animals and the good he did for them is irrefutable, but he was a horrible role model. Just telling kids not to do what you're doing isn't enough. Lead by example and use proper tools and handling protocol. I'm an ex hot herp keeper and I wouldn't dream of free handling anything venomous. To do it on national TV is unforgiveable. Especially when so many children idolize you. There are more living I look up to, but not as heroes.
