About Me

I got into the hip hop culture back in the early 80's. It was breakin that got my attention at first, then seeing films like Wild Style and Beat Street just got me hooked with breakin and doin graffiti. My first encounter with the dj side of hip hop was about 87, i got a Phillips belt drive turntable with a tape deck built in. I use to make mix tape's for my friends and would also record instrumentals to tape then play back the tape then scratch over the top, no mixer, it got me started with learning the basics. My record collection was getting bigger and i was determined to get better. In the early 90's i got my first set of turntables with a mixer, at this time the rave scene was BIG in the UK. I started playing out at house party's, illegal party's and clubs playing Jungle & old skool. The buzz of playing out in front of people is the ultimate experience and playing records that you think are heavy then seeing the crowd react to them is the dopest thing. Around 95 i started getting back into the hip hop side of dj'ing with improveing my scratch and looping skillz as there is only so much you can do with just mixing records and i needed more of a challenge. With my skillz getting better all the time i was asked to drop kutz and do tricks more at jams and by the end of the 90's most of my dj work was for hip hop. In 2004 myself and some like minded old skool hip hop heads got together to put a 4 element hip hop jam on in the city of peterborough called Time 2 Throw Down, showcaseing Scratch DJ's, MC's, B boy's and Graffiti writers. We have had some heavy jams over the year's and some top dj's like dj Woody, First Rate, Skully, Timber. In 2007 it was the 25th anniversary of the film Wild Style and we were lucky enough to get DJ Charlie Chase & MC Prince Whipper Whip over from the states to play at Throw Down which was a major thing to me as i see the film when i was a kid and never thought 20 something years later that i would be on stage with these guys and getting down with them. Time 2 Throw Down is still going strong and we aim to keep real hip hop and all the elements alive. I am also a promotor for a new night that started in 2007 called RUN TINGZ, playing DubStep, Breakbeat, Old Skool Jungle, Drum & Bass. I take myself seriously when it come's to dj'ing, and aim for perfection when i perform as i want to play the best i can and take a set from the studio to the stage and get it as perfect as i can.
