Have you ever wanted to go into Space?Have you ever wanted to go to distant planets?Have you ever wished 2001 was just like it was in the movie “2001: A Space Odyssey”?What if I told you that it is a lot closer then you think? A company out of southern California called The Space Island Group is preparing to achieve just that! Before 2010, The Space Island Group will be the company that will build the 1st Wheel Space Station in Orbit 400 miles above the Earth. It will be made up of 16 External Tanks (E.T.’s) that will be connected end to end in the form of a ring. The ring station will rotate creating centriphical force, giving passengers and crew 1/3 gravity allowing eating, walking running and dancing with an exotic feel. So if you have ever wanted to work in the Space industry but thought you could never get into NASA then check us out. It can hold up to 600 passenger and Crew.What is the E.T. your asking?Well the External Tank is the Fuel tank under the belly of the Shuttle. Each E.T. is 3 stories on its side and 16 stories when upright on a launch pad, just to give you an idea. Now imagine 16 of these E.T.’s and you have a very large Ring Space Station.Now this of course is stage 3 in The Space Island Group’s Plan. Stage 2, is to heal the world of its dependency of oil. The Space Island Group plans to build a large solar panel array 3 miles in Diameter. This will absorb pure solar energy that is not diffused by the multi-layers of the Earths atmosphere. Instead it will collect the pure solar energy and in turn will be converted and then sent via satellite dish to an array of dishes on the ground that will in turn transfer the solar energy to the local power plants supplying you and me with Clean Solar Energy.
