Ben Frank Jr.From Bankhead to College Park to Ben Hill, the fruitful grounds of the Atlanta metro area have harvested the most assorted blends of musical flavors than any other metropolitan. Contrasting from the futuristic funk of Outkast to hyperactive huffs and puffs of Lil Jon to the gritty gangsta tales of T.I., ATL has for a long time been a hip hop hotbed for talent. The next budding seed to sprout from the A-towns topsoil is lyrical live wire Ben Frank Jr. Born and raised in Atlantas Decatur section, Ben Frank first began planting his verbal seeds across the citys east side more than a decade ago. Fertilizing grassroots rhymes, staggering punch lines and a vivid imagination, the 20-year-old trendsetter gained notoriety around town for his flawless freestyle abilities.I started rappin in the fourth grade- all through elementary, middle school and high school. I aint lost a battle yet, Ben reveals. Everybody where I live already know how I spit. I put it down so sick I need Thera Flu.That local recognition and boastful self-assurance have recently earned him a deal with independent label Darkside Empire. Now with the right machine behind him to cultivate his verbal capabilities, Ben Frank Jr. is destined to blossom onto the national spotlight.Just check the charismatic techniques on the energetic club banger Darkside N****s:
Try me and get murk/ I put you under the dirt/ Its easy to get hurt/ Plus, Im bussing the three first/ So hit up your preacher/ And order some t-shirts.It was lines like these the caught the attention of Darkside Empire CEO Murda Montana while they were all hanging at the house of mutual friend Too $hort. Murda heard me spit one night and was like I want you on a song. I came down to the studio and did what I had to do, Ben testifies. And he was like I want you on another song. I did that song, and then he was like Im starting up a label.Weeks later, Ben had signed with the upstart label and found himself recording for Darkside Empire in Omari Studios, the same mid-town Atlanta spot where rap legend Tupac once recorded.Ben Frank is one of the most lyrical rappers that I have ever heard in my life, admits Murda. When I heard him spit for the first time, I just had to have him on my label.
