Here's all that blurb that you can skim over..
NOT THE SHOT DOGS ANYMORE WE WANT LOXLEY, WE WANT LOXLEY!!!
We have a collection of songs and music that will keep you listening and thinking all evening. Our material with outstanding harmonies gently sway between traditional and contemporary folk, to music hall and old favourites. From 16th century to 21st century. About time Willy Shakespeare
got an airing in folk clubs.
Well there's me, Sally, (also known as the Lemonade Lady). I sing some traditional folk songs and a bit of blues, and make freshly squeezed lemonade (sometimes both at once). I'm the finger in the ear element.
We are lucky to have John Eyre (the lap dog) as part of our the trio. Not only does he write some of our songs, he arranges and writes the harmonies (even while were singing other songs!). Challenge him with an old favourite, see if he knows it.
The other chap in the trio is The Amazing Arthur Hyde (the wild dog). Arthur also writes our songs, and with John to keep him on the straight and narrow, (which isnt easy at times) is a strong influence on the harmonies. Some of his songs are thought provoking and some are funny. (Hes an old hippy, he'll grin when he reads this!) He has a repertoire of music hall songs to amuse your Grand Ma. For pitys sake dont mention ukuleles. And when it comes to adlibbing...
We'd like to support an artist if you have any space, and don't want money, just exposure.
We hope you'll laugh and dream with us.
Why are we called Shot Dogs?
Because we started out at 'Spin Drift' and it sounded too much like a namby pamby 1070's folk group. Would we be more likely to get a gig as Spin Drift or as Shot Dogs? Well you tell me.
What sort of material do we perform?
Various; traditional pieces from the 16th to contemporary 21st century. From William Shakespeare to James Taylor.
Who writes our material:
A combination of John and Arthur. Arthur churns 'em out and John licks them into shape.
Do we have a CD?
We're in the process of recording all our songs at a beautiful house on the banks of Llangorse Lake. Some songs I believe, are to be recorded on the stairs! It'll be the bathroom next. Acoustics, you know!
