Thomas D. Stewart Born in New York in 1973 to the late Sally Mae. Stewart
raised by his grandparents Albert & Vera Stewart in the Bed-Stuy section of
Brooklyn. He was destined for many things. He knew he loved music almost
immediately. His family loved music and he grew up listening to all the greats
from Aretha Franklin to Miles Davis. At the tender age of eight he found himself
inside on hot summer days rambling through his mother€™s music collection when
all the other kids were outside doing what children did at that age. He knew
then that his love for music would clearly dictate his future. It was at the age
of thirteen that Thomas evolved into D.J Tiz. He took interest in local rap
groups like Devine Sounds, Zulu nation, Cold Crush Brothers. He took even more
interest in the early D.J pioneers like Grand Master Flash, Kool Herk, and Grand
Wizard Theodore.
In 1986 Rap began its leap into the forefront with Rappers like dynamic duo
Eric B. & Rakim, Biz Markie , Kool G Rap, Big Daddy Kane, KRS-1 this only added
fuel to his already burning flame about his music because he had become a hip
hop junkie. In John Jay high school he hosted many talent shows turning the
party out with less than adequate equipment given to him by the under funded
school audio video department. But he made it work putting together two tape
decks and playing what the crowd wanted and needed to hear making the show a
success. Soon after that Thomas took his first Job in a barbershop sweeping up
hair. He worked and saved enough money to purchase two Gemini turntables and
built his own equipment coffin in his high school wood shop class. With that
kind of determination and the need to feed his appetite to do music Tiz was well
on his way.
Since those days D.J Tiz has rubbed elbows with some heavy hitters not dreaming
anymore but living his dream of working side by side with the now Dj Biz Markie
who these days is making more than €œMusic With His Mouth€? He is one the most
sought after D.J€™s in the country rocking some of the hottest parties. Speaking
to Tiz you can almost feel the honor and respect he has for working with such a
hip hop veteran€.and I quote €œI€™m learning things from Biz that can only make me
GREAT in this industry, when we D.J together €.and I look out over the crowd
enjoying themselves it€™s like I was made to make people move.
D.J Tiz has been busy doing his thing moving past the many huge affairs he
already has under his belt from concerts and album release parties to birthday
parties for:
Faith Evans, Trey Songs, Carl Thomas, Neyo, India Irie, Chuck Brown, Sean
Carter, Russell Simmons, Gilbert Arenas, Lavar Arrington, and president Bill
Clinton€™s National Democratic Convention in the nations capital, you add the
plethora of hot night clubs on the mid east coast as well as the host of
weddings, boat rides, block parties and holiday celebrations; You have the
recipe for success. With the fire inside him still burning I expect we will be
seeing a lot more of D.J Tiz.Written by;
