Lighter Records was conceptualized out of the need to promote Cebu's growing music community. In it's smallest of beginnings, the group was known as Lighter Press. The first and only project was a fanzine of the same name. Having run 15 issues, the group evolved into a record company of sorts. The first artist signed under the Lighter Records flag was Urbandub.
The success of Urbandub gave way to the signing of more bands within the Visayas region. Today, Lighter Records has seven in their roster:
