Our Story by Jerome Lazore.
It took no time at all before Howdy Edwards and I formed Corn-Bred in 1999. We recruited John "JB" Buck to play bass guitar, Rick Edwards to play harmonica and Lenny Printup to play drums. We began practicing on a regular basis in my basement for a good year before we got our first gig at Molly's Place on Grand Ave in the city of Syracuse, New York. We had such a large Native American following that Molly's was filled beyond capacity, as well as their expectations. They quickly booked us again and were sure to provide extra staff as well as additional parking. Word was out...
We hired a promoter for a short time, to get the recognition that a new band needed. Shortly thereafter, Howdy and Rick left the band and were replaced by Larry Sullivan and Wayne Cook. Shortly after that Wayne and Larry were replaced by Curtis Waterman and Morris Tarbell.
With the current line-up we have found our groove together as a band and a family. Our popularity and fan base has grown and led us to some high profile gigs. We play all the casinos and pow wows in New York and surrounding areas. We've played the Presidents Inaugural Ball in 05, the Native American Smithsonian Institute, New York State Blues Fest, the Syracuse Sammy's and have done shows with The Beach Boys, Diamond Rio, Jana, Los Lobos, and Martha Redbone. We recently finished recording our latest cd with all new original material and as well as our first music video (the dam song). Things are looking good.
