Marcus ‘MdotCoop’ Cooper has had an affinity with music since his adolescence. With a cheap stereo, a tape recorder & cassette tape (tissue stuffed in the top) he made his first song at age 10 with a childhood friend. Possessing a natural bravado & steadfast reputation for making versatile & heartfelt music Coop has risen through the ranks to become a part of the elite in Rochester, NY’s ever budding music scene. Clever, insightful & substantive are his musings. Mdot’s delivery exudes an air of coolness that compliments his potent & powerful bars. Self-assured as a person & an artist, his commitment to his craft is what keeps him pushing toward bigger & better things. Born in Rochester, NY in 1984 Mdot became acquainted with music early on. Classic soul, funk & R&B filled the background of his early years, his mother & father’s music collections were the silhouettes. Displaying an inherent admiration for music Mdot would quote songs, drum on just about everything & later play both the trumpet & baritone. Most influential however, were his older cousins who would often play the latest hip hop albums while babysitting; artists in their own right they were truly responsible for Mdot’s significant introduction to hip hop. Honing his skills in ciphers, school hallways & around the neighborhood Mdot developed his craft seizing every opportunity provided to him, performing at school events & in local battles. Always the eager type Mdot began recording songs solo & with other artists throughout h.s. & boasted a healthy catalog by the time he graduated. Attending college at SUNY Old Westbury in Long Island outside of Queens, NY gave Coop the necessary drive to keep his youthful dream going. New York allowed for Mdot’s artistic growth & helped build the tough exterior necessary for this game. This time also allowed Mdot to build his network & relationships with other like minded & creative individuals. Still frequently recording & doing shows within the final days of his departure from Old Westbury Mdot started D.E.L.I. Ent. & within the year dropped THE D.E.L.I. DAYS EP & his first full length project IN & OUT OF TIME. With an incredible work ethic & two projects already slated to drop in 2010 GENESEE LIFE a Rochester artist comprised compilation & his solo mixtape COOPERSTOWN Mdot is on the brink of greatness.
