Polo Montanez

His real name is Fernando Borrego Linares and in a few years he went from an unknown country "Guajiro" who loved to sing to a major superstar. He only recorded 2 albums and all where very popular around the world. He was not your traditional "Son" singer. Montañez added a breath of fresh air to the traditional rhythm by adding violins and other instruments. His voice sounded like the mountains and countryside of Cuba. A native of Pinar del Rio province in Cuba, Montañez died in a car accident while heading home after a gig in Cuba in 2002. This is a posthumous compilation of the hits he made during his short lived fame and life. In here you'll find songs about love won and lost, about the countryside and about Cuba.
