About Me

PRESS:

BAND BIO:
Leash wouldn’t fit in a standard drawer so they opened a new one. Without stiring up the usual pop ingredients the five exile-berliners cook a stew that convinces both the alternative club crowd and the radio audience. Energetic guitars meet dark synthpop, fuzzy basslines meet falsett vocal hooks. An uplifting but melancholic red line and refreshing, surprising elements make a song like Babylicious cool pop music yet relevant also for the underground. Leash has scattered influences that are apparent without being obvious, and touch on everything from guitar-like basses of The Cure, vocals that pay legitimate homage to David Bowie and Radiohead, and moments of rage and beauty á la Placebo.
Leash’s history is not long, but full of highlights. They can already look back on exciting shows in Germany, UK and Switzerland with bands such as Maximo Park, Chikinki, Jens Lekman, Shit Disco, Forward Russia!, Super 700, Fair to Midland, The Horrors, Polarkreis 18, and in July 2007 with the German Band Wir sind Helden at the iTunes Festival at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London.
The story of Leash began in 2004 when Ilja Koster (vocals, guitar) and Dominik Busch (bass) met and invisioned a style so much cooler than everything they knew. What seems megalomaniac was nothing but their mutual love for unpredictable harmonious structures plus a strong band attitude - a rare combination. After a phase of experimenting with electronic songwriting they found the drummer Pascal Gemmer. Performing live for over one year now the three became five with Marieke van Reusel (keys) and Dennis Schleijpen (guitar).
An EP has just been produced in 2007 and a live-EP has just been released on iTunes. At the moment Leash is writing new songs and seeks the professional support in booking and management.
