Hi I am Rafaela Zanella, I am Miss. Brazil 2006. I was born in Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul, on August 9, 1986. Most of my friends call me Raffie, Rafa, or just Rafaela. When I was crowned Miss Rio Grande do Sul I moved to Porto Alegre, Rio Grande’s capital. It is there, in Santa Maria, that all my references, experiences and memories, even the most remote ones, lie. I can easily picture myself as a little girl playing with my friends in the streets of Santa Maria, my dolls, my school. I studied at a public school until the 8th grade; in my high school years I attended the Marista Santa Maria School. It was then that I decided to study other languages. I took English and Italian classes because I enjoy traveling and learning more about other cultures. I have a sister, Karolina and a brother, Jose and we are very close and enjoy spending time together. I’ve always been a person worried about what lies ahead, therefore, I tend to develop my abilities to learn and do things that will be useful to me in the future, in both my personal and professional life. Following that line, I’ve always taken part in activities which involved social and cultural events and practiced many different sports. Throughout many years I worked as a volunteer at an ONG which dealt with children and elderly in need. It assisted me in realizing what I wanted to do professionally: to become a doctor. I had to study full time in order to pass the exam to attend a good Medicine school, and after much effort and dedication, I accomplished it. I am in my first year of studies, and I am specializing in plastic surgery. It was very fulfilling, a dream come true. I can say that I am a happy person, simply because I love what I do. As a matter of fact, I believe that this is the first step towards happiness, believing in what we do and savoring every challenge and conquest which comes with a new day. When I set a goal to myself, I focus and go after it, instead of crossing my arms and waiting for it to happen. I do what I need to do without overlapping anyone. I never left my values aside, honesty and fair play are some of the keys to success. My friends and family are #1 in my life. I believe in living everyday to the fullest and never looking back to regret the error's you make along the way but to learn from each mistake we make to become a better person :)
