Firstly: I have nothing whatsoever to do with yaz.com (The new birth control product... I knew it! I shoulda' registered that URL years ago!
OK, my story... Back in Radio after a variety of careers that actually included being the local "Snapple" rep! Spent a few lost years in the Night Club business and even worked for a paper company (the fictitious Dunder Miflin from "The Office" had nothing on that place!)
The late 80's and early 90's were a magic time for Winnipeg radio. (I held down some wonderful on-air slots with the once-great 92 CITI and 97 FM) After years of corporate crap little remains listenable on the local level... In 2008 I left FREQ 107 (A great little rocker until it got bought out, "found religion" and turned Christian)... I now (pardon the pun) "Hang my hat" in the sales department at a Kick-Ass country station called HANK FM! They play everything from Kid Rock to Vintage Johnny Cash!

Winnipeg (No, not a contest for Pirates) is a plain-jane prairie town of 700,000 smack-dab in the center of Canada. Phoenix-like summers, and winters not unlike the arctic setting of the John Carpenter film "The Thing"
The city recently spent millions on a lame new identity campaign created a slogan so forgetable no one that even lives here can remember it.
I prefer my slogan: "Winnipeg... cause ya' gotta' live somewhere"
