Singing, reading, having coffee with friends, listening to music. Highly recommended stuff I've seen on stage: One Flew Over the Cukoo's Nest, Guys and Dolls, The Producers. Went to The Globe to see Coriolanus which was fab! Muse were, of course, great live. I LOVE NEW YORK! When I was there, I really enjoyed seeing Phantom of the opera on Broadway, went to Birdland (jazz club) which was wicked, just enjoyed kinda walking around and taking it all in. There is such a good atmosphere. I also loved Hong Kong! (see pics on the right). I'm still loyal to London too - walking along the Thames, visiting Borough Market, riding on the London Eye, eating in a nice restaurant and taking a tipsy tube journey home after a few glasses of wine.
Blondie, Muse, Aretha Franklin, Air, Bob Dylan, Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, various indie stuff, The Beetles, Blur, The Prodigy, Some dance music (especially early 90s stuff), a bit of Motown and a bit of soul, James Brown, Jeff Buckley, The Kinks, David Bowie, Moby, Basement Jaxx, female singers with powerful (though not whiny) voices, a bit of funk....
Sean of the Dead, Singing in the rain, Cassablanca, Amelie, Girl with a pearl earring, Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Truman Show, Back to the Future trilogy, Memoirs of a Geisha, Walk the Line, The Mask - anything slightly off-beam. Films with Ewan McGreggor in (shamelessly unfussy about what they are - even better if he sings). Just saw School of Rock this evening - it was v funny!
Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Extras - I cant be bothered to sit on my ass for too long to watch TV. I find Phillip Schofield quite entertaining - never mind...
Where do I start? Pride & Prejudice (Austen), Beloved (Toni Morrison), Dead Famous (Ben Elton), On Beauty (Zadie Smith), Rebecca (Daphne Du Maurier), Man & Boy (Tony Parsons), Captain Correlli's Mandolin (Louis du Bernier), To Kill a Mockingbird (Harper Lee), Memoirs of a Geisha (Arthur Goldern), Jane Eyre (Charlotte Bronte), The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe (CS Lewis)
Debby Harry - she had (and still has) the attitude, the talent and the style, and I find her inspiring.
