About Me

Composer of Instrumental / Electroacoustic / Interactive music. Spent the last five years studying in Birmingham with Vic Hoyland, Jonty Harrison, Eric Oña, David Berezan and Scott Wilson, and now studying for a PhD at the University of York with Ambrose Field and Roger Marsh. A long time before all of that studied with Gywn Pritchard in Bristol which informed much of the thinking behind earlier pieces.

For the last few of years has been a member of BEAST (Birmingham ElectroAcoustic Sound Theatre).

Recently completed an interactive piece for pianist Melissa Morris, for piano and computer (both improvising) which was premiered in Birmingham on the 3rd of March 2007. Also involved in a project with Birmingham-based jazz musicians Ben Markland, Chris Bowden and Neil Bullock, along with other BEAST composers that unites jazz improvisation and laptop processing / sound generation.

As a programmer works predominantly with Max/MSP, writing pieces and processing algorithms. In particular, quite a bit of work with spectral processing that has been the basis of a few recent pieces.

The latest complete works are two short pieces for dance written in collaboration with choreographer Bryony Smith at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance and my piece for Matt Postle Swarms - for solo trumpet and 50 laptops. Check them out below.
