Tim McCoy and the Papercuts

About Me

Tim McCoy and the Papercuts are based out of the seacoast area of NH in the USA, one hour north of Boston. Tim was a founding member, along with ol' pal Rick Twombly, of Heavens to Murgatroid and was with the band through several lineup changes and through the demise of the band in 1998. The band released three albums on three labels, along with one very cool pink vinyl 45 and countless compilations. Since then, the band has performed on several occasions, usually around holidays, and are back together working on a new record which should see the light of day in 2007. Rick also played guitar on Tim's new solo record. Tim was also a founding member of Weed Inc., which went on to change their name to Lemon Fresh Kids. That band also released three albums, two under Weed Inc. and one under LFK. Tim also played in Starch during that period with Jon McCormack (Fly Spinach Fly, Museum of Science, Camarojuana) and Jamie Perkins (Museum of Science, Famous). Both Jon and Jamie appear on the new solo record as well. Besides The Papercuts and HTM, Tim also plays with Jon Nolan (Say Zuzu) and Hokum, a fine roots rock band based out of NH and Boston. The legendary Billy Butler just came on board in 2007 ..s and vocals, and the four piece lineup became solidified. Entertaining and engaging, Billy sings his ass off and plays the piano like it should be played: a percussive, rockin' instrument. Billy has played the lead in many regional theater productions like Tommy, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Wall, Bat Boy and most recently Hedwig and the Angry Inch. His talent and enthusiasm has just elevated the previous trio and filled in that last piece they all were looking for. Plus, he loves The Who as much as Tim, Kevin and Jason, so it's a perfect fit.Jason Boyce plays guitar like his boyhood hero, Evel Knievel, rode motorcycles. Pedal down, a little out of control, a whole lot of soul and dedication to the craft. Jason has always played in heavier, darker bands but has proven to be a perfect fit in the Papercuts. Jason has brought an edge to Tim's punk pop songs that he was looking for, and the chemistry has been very cool. Jason is a big fan of the classics (The Beatles being at the top of that list) and puts in the work to be the cool guitarist that he is.Jamie Perkins, long time friend of Tim's, replaced Kevin Ure on drums in the spring of 2008. Jamie is one of the finest drummers in the northeast and beyond, and he is in demand with many acts around NH. He currently plays with Museum of Science and Famous as well. Jamie is well read and a great fan of the classics and knows his history of music extremely well. He's a fan of the greats like Bonham and Moon as well as many contemporaries. He hits them hard and has added a more rock element to the Papercuts in recent months. He recorded most of the tracks on the debut Tim McCoy album, before the Papercuts were assembled.
