NEW YORK (Jan. 19, 2008) - Reggae poet and songwriter Henchman pays a musical tribute to the father and triumphant leader of the American Civil Rights Movement Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a new song-poem, “Henchman Tribute to Dr. King,†featuring King’s memorable "We Shall Overcome" speech remixed over the Shanki Shake Rhythm.
Known for blending his poems with rich Caribbean and African-American heritage, Henchman’s soulful duet with Dr. King is guaranteed to have listeners chanting “We Shall Overcome.â€
Born Laureston Walch, Henchman began writing poetry in 1992. In 2005, he received the Poet of Merit award and was honored for his outstanding achievement in poetry by the International Society of Poets. His new CD of poems titled Poems of Life has just been released by Henchman Records Inc.
